OVERLORD- CH-96. The Advent

"Come here!" Lilith said in a cold voice, waving her arm.

"Maximize Magic Gravity Traction!"

A tremendous force surged toward the distant target, and a violent explosion erupted not far from the high ground. A strong, silver-white figure was yanked into the air as if caught by an invisible hand.

Lilith raised her hand, then swung it down sharply.

The figure hovered momentarily before being slammed into the charred wasteland below. The attack seemed to cause little damage. The figure stood, and Lilith could now see him clearly.

He was a tall, muscular knight clad in silver-white armor, though his head remained exposed. His handsome face was striking, like an ancient Greek marble statue, embodying the very essence of nobility. Yet, his eyes were disturbingly empty, devoid of any spark of life.

"Grem? A humanoid puppet?" Lilith muttered, her attention focused less on his striking appearance and more on his unnatural demeanor.

The knight gripped his sword, but Lilith had no intention of giving him a chance to act.

"Maximize Magic Shadow Binding!"

Dark shadows coalesced into claw-like tendrils, wrapping around the knight and binding him in place. He roared, struggling against the restraints, but to no avail.

With a cold snort, Lilith strode toward him.

Suddenly, a flash of light erupted from the knight's body. A sacred aura surged forth, as if blessed by divine power.

"Never Night!"

Night turned to day as a radiant sun-like orb rose into the sky. An unimaginable power burst from the knight, and the dark purple shadow claws began to stretch and weaken. The knight gritted his teeth, letting out a guttural roar.

"Ah!" With a final effort, he broke free of the Shadow Binding, only to be met with a barrage of magical whips.

"Shadow Whips!"

Dozens of long, magic-infused whips lashed out, striking the knight and sending him flying. At the same time, Lilith clenched her other fist, summoning a monstrous creature from the ground.

The beast resembled a massive serpent, two meters thick, with no eyes or limbs—only a gaping maw filled with rows of jagged teeth. It lunged at the knight, its mouth wide open as if to swallow him whole.

The knight twisted his body midair in an incredible display of agility, landing on the serpent's head and using it as a springboard to propel himself backward. He landed gracefully, gripping his sword tightly.

"He has combat instincts, but no consciousness." Lilith observed, noting the contradiction between the knight's fluid movements and his lifeless eyes.

The knight's sword began to glow with immense magical energy, flames licking its blade as waves of red light radiated outward. Lilith made no move to stop him; she knew what was coming.

It was the same attack as before, but amplified. Lilith glanced at the blazing sun in the sky, 'It must be connected to that.' She thought.

This time, the knight spoke, his voice low and resonant.

"Excalibur Gallatin!"

A wave of searing fire, capable of scorching the earth, surged toward Lilith. Even she would suffer serious injuries if hit directly, yet she made no move to defend herself.

Just before the flames reached her, a purple shadow emerged from the ground, enveloping her completely.

It was a high-level slime with Absolute Fire Resistance. The term "absolute" meant that any fire attack below "super level" or "world level" would be utterly ineffective.

Lilith emerged unscathed, flexing her wrist as she spoke coldly.

"Satisfied? Now, it's my turn."

Author's Note:

Excalibur Gallatin is the sword of Gawain, a Knight of the Round Table under King Arthur. It is the sister sword to King Arthur's Excalibur, the Sword of Promised Victory.

PS: I have an exam today, so I'll update in the evening. I don't have any drafts saved, but I'll do my best! (At least one update.)

The knight assumed a fighting stance, his armor and sword wreathed in red flames, resembling a fire dragon poised to strike. His blade moved with ferocious speed, the burning magic creating a dense web of crimson light in the air.

His gentle features appeared even more noble under the fiery glow, making the emptiness in his eyes all the more tragic.

'Sun Knight'—this title suited him perfectly, not only because of the Holy Sword of the Sun he wielded but also because of his radiant, noble demeanor.

This knight was none other than Gawain, one of the Knights of the Round Table from the legends of King Arthur, and Arthur's nephew. Known as the 'Knight of the Sun,' he was a peer to Lancelot, the strongest of the Round Table.

However, this statement wasn't entirely accurate. In truth, he wasn't the original Gawain but a "shadow"—a being who had inherited the original's power and combat skills but lacked consciousness. He existed solely as a tool and servant of God, devoid of thought or memory, yet possessing absolute loyalty and immense strength.

It was unclear whether he still held any admiration for King Arthur, but even without consciousness, he carried out her commands dutifully. Perhaps he was merely a replica, crafted by the king in her own image and imbued with power and blessings.

But such philosophical questions were beyond him. Under the blazing sun, the knight simply swung his blade in silence.

As the 'Knight of the Sun,' Gawain possessed the blessing of the 'Number of the Saint.' During the three hours from 9 a.m. to noon, and again from 3 p.m. to sunset, his strength tripled.
