MCU- CH-183. Eternity gets to know the truth

The power of the Ultimate Nullifier depends entirely on the will of its user. If an ordinary person tried to wield it, the likely result would be self-destruction. But if a cosmic god like Galactus were to use it, it could potentially obliterate the entire multiverse in an instant.

As Galactus was being ruthlessly beaten by Like in an almost humiliating manner, several cosmic entities began to fear that Galactus might lose control and use the Nullifier. They knew that if Galactus tried to use the artifact against Like, he would pay a heavy price himself. Normally, they wouldn't be too concerned about Galactus's survival, as his avatars had been destroyed many times across countless parallel universes. However, this time, it was his true form, and within him, a new generation of Galactus was being nurtured.

The other gods could see that the life inside Galactus was an innocent child, one they could almost consider their niece or nephew. They couldn't stand by and watch the future child be harmed due to its father's recklessness.

Galactus was nearly unconscious from the relentless assault by Luke, and the cosmic energy within him was leaking out uncontrollably.

"Can you let him go?" A soft voice suddenly whispered into Luke's ear.

The next moment, the scene changed entirely. The space, time, and cosmic laws around Luke vanished, and even Galactus, who had been in front of him, disappeared. Luke looked up and realized he was no longer in the universe he had just been fighting in. The surroundings were boundless, pure white, and in front of him stood a figure with a strange crown and a body that resembled the galaxy itself.

"Eternity." Luke whispered.

He was a bit surprised by Eternity's appearance. After all, this great cosmic being only showed up during multiversal crises, and otherwise remained inactive. Luke hadn't expected Eternity to intervene for Galactus.

"It seems you know who I am." Eternity said, his voice calm and soothing, "Galactus, my brother, is the last survivor of the previous cosmic era. Chosen by cosmic consciousness, he became the devourer of worlds to maintain the balance of the universe. He cannot be allowed to perish here."

Eternity's tone was calm, but his words carried an unquestionable authority. Galactus had already been taken away.

Luke studied Eternity, realizing that had the cosmic being not appeared in front of him, he wouldn't have even sensed his presence. Luke's vigilance increased, and though Eternity did not display any hostility, Luke mentally prepared for the worst. Even though Eternity wasn't the most powerful entity in the entire Marvel Universe, his power was above many, including the beings above the Almighty Universe, the Living Tribunal, and even the One-Above-All. Still, Luke remained composed. To him, Eternity was a god, but one he could handle if needed.

"I hold no ill will towards you." Eternity continued, "I have noticed you since the moment your soul appeared in my universe. The universe I had carefully orchestrated was thrown into chaos the moment you arrived. Countless parallel universes were destroyed, and new ones born, because of you."

Luke was slightly shocked but then quickly calmed down. After all, Eternity was the living embodiment of the multiverse itself—a conceptual god. It made sense that he would notice someone like Luke, a cosmic anomaly.

"So, your real reason for being here isn't just to save Galactus. What do you want from me?" Luke asked.

Eternity remained calm, his voice unwavering, "No, I came today for my brother Galactus, but I also wish to speak with you. I wonder if you would be willing to answer my questions."

Luke crossed his legs and sat down in the void, leaning back as though he were resting on something invisible, appearing casual and unconcerned.

Eternity didn't seem to mind his relaxed posture, "Of course." Eternity replied, "I look forward to our next meeting."

Luke was momentarily confused by Eternity's calm demeanor, "Alright, what do you want to ask? But if I don't know the answer, don't expect much from me."

Luke was intrigued by the idea of having a conversation with Eternity. He even entertained the notion of telling Eternity that the entire universe they existed in was the creation of comic book writers and filmmakers. He wondered how Eternity would react to such a revelation.

"I have observed an interesting phenomenon while watching the multiverse unfold." Eternity began, "Across all universes, there is a human on Earth named Wade Wilson. He seems to possess an ability that even I cannot fully comprehend. In certain timelines, you seem to understand his behavior."

Luke was taken aback for a moment. Wade Wilson? That was Deadpool, the infamous Marvel character known for breaking the fourth wall. Eternity had noticed Deadpool's strange behavior—his habit of addressing the audience directly, speaking in ways that made no sense to anyone else.

Of course, Luke understood it. Deadpool's breaking of the fourth wall was a result of his existence as a comic book character, created and controlled by writers. His ability to interact with his "reality" was part of the narrative.

But then, a chilling thought crossed Luke's mind. What if he, too, was like Deadpool—merely a puppet controlled by a higher being? A sharp chill ran through him at the realization.

However, Luke quickly relaxed. After all, everything he had done so far had been of his own volition. Still, a small trace of wariness remained in his heart.

"I know the answer to your question, but are you sure you want to hear it?" Luke asked, curious about how Eternity would react if he told him that everything happening in their universe was part of a comic book or movie script.

He hadn't expected Eternity's first question to be about Deadpool, of all things.

Since Eternity had already asked this question, he certainly wouldn't choose not to listen. He just signaled Luke that he could start talking.

"I believe that when you observe the earth, you also know something called comics or movies created by humans!" Hearing Luke's words, Eternity's eyes flashed with a divine light, and he immediately gathered all the information about comics and movies in the universe.

"It's just a figment of human imagination, creatures with richer emotions and will."

As a true god, Eternity found those fantasy stories created by humans very boring.

"Wade, under certain coincidences or destined circumstances, saw what he believed to be the truth through his own spirit. He believed that the whole world was fake and all the heroes were puppets manipulated by certain people."

"In order to help them escape such a fate, he chose to slaughter all the superheroes, but he never thought that the truth he saw might be what someone wanted him to see!"

"What if I say that in the eyes of some beings, you are just a character in a comic book? Perhaps our conversation right now is also being watched by some people!"

Luke's words made Eternity silent.

However, in fact, when Luke said this to Eternity, he was also speaking to himself. After all, the memories of his previous life made him understand that the Marvel Universe in his world was indeed just a fantasy created by many cartoonists.

But now, he was actually born into the illusory universe of his previous life.

If the Marvel world is really treated as an imaginary world, then according to basic logic, his existence should be a super-dimensional existence in the Marvel world. Just like the five-dimensional troublemaker in the DC comics meddling with the three-dimensional world, he should be able to control the entire universe at will.

However, Luke did not possess that kind of divine power. Even with the system as a plug-in, he had only just reached the level of entering the multiverse.

Therefore, the Marvel Universe is definitely not fictional. Some cartoonists on Earth in his previous life must have accidentally glimpsed everything that happened in this universe and then recorded it as comics.

Then, those in the real world could peek into the original Marvel Universe, which meant they might be watching everything happening to him now.

Like felt a little uncomfortable when he thought about how he had been a spectator in his previous life but was now on the stage, being watched by others.

Just when Luke began to ponder again, Eternity spoke.

"I was born at the beginning of the seventh cosmic era, which was 6.8 billion years ago. I remember everything that happened during this period vividly. If this is an illusion, then what is real?"

Anyone in this universe might doubt the reality of the world, except Eternity. As the incarnation of the multiverse, his billions of years of experience overseeing it made him immune to being driven insane by just a few words from Luke.

"You must be from where you said you were!" Eternity continued, "After all, there are countless vast worlds outside the infinite multiverse, worlds that even I cannot explore."

"Based on the trajectory of your birth in this universe, you should know many secrets, so there should be information about us circulating in your world."

At this moment, Eternity had already guessed Luke's origins.

Luke did not hide anything and said directly, "Yes, I am indeed from that world, and I have learned a lot about this universe from comics and movies."

"Can you tell me about your world?" Eternity's tone finally showed a hint of emotional fluctuation. After all, what Luke was saying was one of the few things to pique his interest in billions of years.

Luke felt there was no harm in sharing knowledge. Could Eternity really find a way to enter that world from just a few words? If that were the case, Like might even have to thank him!

"The world I was born in is also a place called Earth, no different from the many Earths that exist in the multiverse. Even many historical trends are almost the same, except that our world does not have gods, magicians, super technology, or all kinds of mutants and superpowers who can fly and hide!"

"In other words, our world does not have any supernatural powers. However, there is a group of people called cartoonists who create all kinds of superhero comics, and everything in this world is revealed through their pens."

After hearing this, a hint of surprise appeared on Eternity's usually unshakable face.

[Ding! The major event "The Truth of the Origin of the Multiverse" has been triggered, and the system treasure box is continuously charging!]

At this moment, the system's prompt sounded in Luke's mind. Moreover, Luke noticed that the charging progress of the treasure chest was already close to 50%, even though the mission event had just been triggered!

"System, you finally agreed to help me cheat?" Seeing the situation, Luke's first reaction was that his previous PUA on the system might have worked.

[...]

However, this time, the system was so speechless that it only gave Luke six points.

Still, Luke guessed some clues from the name of the event. Triggering such a significant event in front of the physical incarnation of the multiverse meant that he was going to share something truly exciting with Eternity.
