X-MEN- CH-77. Offspring

"Well... that's different, Ayesha. This uniqueness refers to the feelings of the child in the parents' hearts. Their abilities can also be unique. But if they come through such an unnatural way... he may encounter discrimination... and other looks." Raven explained.

Ayesha couldn't understand and said, "Discrimination? Despicable qualities. We will eliminate all bad things from the genetic level."

Martin and Raven nodded without commenting.

. . . . . .

In the next two days, Martin and Raven would explore when they were free, and when Ayesha or Pauline were available, they would spend time together with them. The employment agreement did specify that the enemy might appear within a full week, so their actions did not breach the contract.

That night, Martin and Raven were still on the balcony, gazing at the night sky, which was unlike Earth's.

Suddenly, the clear sky became covered with dark clouds, and soon lightning and thunder began to appear.

"It's going to rain. I thought it wouldn't rain on Sovereign." Raven said.

"No..." Martin felt different fluctuations coming from the air, including energy dissipation and magnetic field disturbances, "It should be our enemies coming."

As soon as Martin finished speaking, Pauline's notification came through the communicator in the room.

"Let's go."

"Um."

When they arrived at the meeting hall, it was already filled with people.

"Let's go over and get to work." Martin said without delay.

Ayesha nodded and asked, "Do you need help?"

At her words, the other Sovereigns looked at their High Priestess curiously. She had asked outsiders for help just because it was troublesome, but now she was offering to help Martin and his team.

"Thank you, but no thanks." Martin smiled, appreciating the offer.

It seemed that Ayesha had developed good feelings toward both of them and was willing to offer assistance.

Martin took Raven's hand, opened a portal to where the enemy was expected to appear, enveloping them both, and in the next moment, they disappeared.

Everyone else assumed Martin had used some unknown teleportation technology, but Ayesha sensed that it was Martin's ability. She had felt a surge of energy emanating from him.

A large virtual projection suddenly appeared in the center of the hall, showing the area where the energy battery was located. Martin and Raven stood there, looking up at the sky.

"Are they here?" Raven asked curiously.

Martin nodded.

A crack suddenly formed in the thick dark clouds, as if the space itself had been torn apart.

From that opening came a breath unlike anything felt before—something that did not belong to their dimension.

The power of the Phoenix had the ability to travel through dimensions, but Martin was currently unable to open a dimensional door actively.

Suddenly, a huge monster rushed out from the dimensional crack. It resembled a mix between a skinless toad and an octopus—Cthulhu-like in appearance, making Martin and Raven uncomfortable.

The monster had no intelligence, acting purely on instinct. Like a ravenous beast, it rushed toward the energy battery as soon as it emerged from the dimensional crack.

Having been hired to eliminate such threats, Martin raised his hand, and the bright red power of the Phoenix surged out, striking the creature's head directly.

Upon contact, the monster let out a scream. Within moments, starting from its head, everything touched by the energy turned to ashes.

"…" Raven asked, "Is it over?"

"Yeah, that's the only one."

"That's really boring."

Martin turned to look at her and flicked her forehead playfully, "It would be great if all our enemies could be defeated this easily."

Raven smiled, hugging Martin's arm and nodding in agreement. Given the choice between excitement and safety, she chose safety.

"Let's go back."

In the Sovereign's meeting hall, everyone exchanged bewildered glances. They hadn't witnessed the dramatic battle they expected—just a simple raising of a hand, and it was over.

Ayesha was deep in thought.

Then a blue light flashed, and Martin and Raven appeared in front of everyone again.

The Sovereigns' previously arrogant expressions had changed, and for the first time, they looked at Martin and Raven with a sense of awe.

"Mission accomplished." Martin said to Ayesha with a smile.

"Yes..." Ayesha hesitated, glancing at Pauline beside her.

Pauline nodded, walking over to Martin and handing him a credit card.

"This is your reward." Ayesha said.

"Okay, deal done."

"Yes." Ayesha nodded, "But I hope you can stay on Sovereign Planet for a while longer."

Martin nodded in agreement. He hadn't finished exploring Sovereign Star yet, so staying a few more days sounded appealing.

. . . . . .

Later that day, Raven went out with Pauline, hoping to make a set of Sovereign costumes for everyone in the family.

When Martin was alone, Ayesha suddenly approached him. Her hairstyle was different today, her long golden hair flowing loosely.

"Nice haircut."

Ayesha nodded but said nothing.

"Why do you usually keep your hair up?" Martin asked.

"Because the chair I use is a neural connector. I need to place my head in a slot to connect to our neural network."

Martin recalled their first meeting when Ayesha had pulled her head from the recessed slot, and he nodded in understanding.

"I think you look great like this."

"I'll consider your suggestion."

"Well, what do you want from me?" Martin asked.

Ayesha stepped closer to him, looking into his eyes, "I want you to tell me how to conceive offspring in the traditional way."

"Well..."

"I sought you out while Raven is away."

"It's okay even if she's here. I can explain the process." Martin said.

"No, I want to experience it for real." Ayesha said, stepping even closer, almost touching him. It was an intimate moment, though her expression remained serious.

"This isn't your real motive, is it?" Martin asked, lifting her chin gently.

Ayesha obediently raised her head higher, "Yes, I want your genes. I believe the probability of you agreeing to this will be higher if I approach it this way."

Martin stared at her, "No, I won't let anyone study me."

"You misunderstand. I don't want to study you. I want to try to create a child with you. Through the child, I can improve the genes of the Sovereigns. You're powerful, and your genetic material will help us."

Ayesha continued, "As the High Priestess, I have special abilities in my genes. Although my body isn't as strong as yours, together we can definitely produce offspring."
