High quality earplugs does sound like a good idea for sure. Don't think he'd be happy to join in on the more extreme stuff either, but for regular heavy metal he's more enthusiastic than I am. He's started coming around on death/black metal too though, ever since I pointed out that the singing can be thought of as another instrument.

Can't sleep with earplugs though, isolates the tones. Since it's never gotten any worse, except for temporarily, I've gotten quite lazy with protecting my hearing. But you're for sure correct, I really ought to do better when I'm listening to stuff that loud. And that sounds awful with the much worse version of tinnitus.

I probably still listen to music a bit loud in my headphones sometimes but hopefully I'll be okay, no tinnitus yet. Thanks for your work! Glad you got to go to a concert with your dad, that sounds epic, sadly my dad doesn't like any of the extreme metal or other things I listen to.

2026-02-22 01:21:38 +0000 UTCMy sleep schedule is getting better since I don't work nights anymore. I got six straight hours in the other night. I had no idea what to do with myself. Hopefully, you get some good rest. My tinnitus is very bad. Very few things can drown it out. I had a tinnitus test recently, and some of the tones used caused me to twitch. Please protect your hearing. Do not end up like me.
