Hey, hey, hey! Careful with that! That's a family heirloom that is. Why that SSD contains my grandfathers entire porn collection you know, including some weird shit he made himself.
That's how I imagine having descendants would be for me. Which is as good a reason as any to not have any.
I've finished scene 6, I think we can call it a decent enough week I figure. Scene 7 ought to be a quick one, so I should get some good progress into scene 8 as well next week. Ooh, looking forward to scene 8.
This? Oh, it's just my emotional support orc.Read the first book in the Rivers of London series, aptly named Rivers of London. I rarely read fantasy that takes place in the 'real world', but it was an enjoyable experience. Kind of a crime novel with a dash of magic. I've been reading a lot of first books in series lately, trying them out before committing to something that I'll sink my teeth into.
Maybe I'm just stalling since I'm planning to sink my teeth into Malazan after having read Gardens of the Moon a while back. I am currently also on my way to finishing Cradle. Man, you forget how many characters there are in a long series like that, starting it up again it pretty much took me an entire book before I was keeping up with all the names.
The Avatar of Abolishing Annoyances makes herself known.Started the new uni-course this week as well, so now I finally know what I'll be doing. Which is just about the same as last course actually, just slower. Instead of writing something akin to a novella in one semester, we'll do it in two.
Feels like it'll be a much better pace for me, since it should leave me with plenty of time to work on the game in parallel. Now I just need to figure out what I'll be writing about, I'm thinking something containing a wizard's tower made of flesh and bone. Oh, and I need to start reading course books. I usually don't bother reading them to be honest, but I figured I'd try it for once and see if I feel enlightened.
Actually finished a degree in computer science without reading a single coursebook. Which isn't that impressive when you consider that computer science is naturally going to have any and all information you need online and easily accessible. Saved me a lot of money though!
Tried something with the framing here that I don't think worked quite that well. But half the fun is trying stuff out.Yeah, university textbooks are a damned scam. They're basically never available in cheaper e-book format either. So I skipped acquiring three books, and only got the regular books which could be bought on the cheap. Murakami's book on writing (Novelist as a Vocation) is being a real nuisance though. I didn't check when I bought it, but apparently it's in some stupid format that only allows you to read it with some specific Adobe software.
Since Adobe as a whole should be thrown down the nearest volcano, I instead sailed the seven seas in search of an actual functional copy. You're allowed to do that when you've already paid for a non-functional piece of shit copy. In fact, you're obliged to do so, as far as I'm concerned.
Incidentally, I've noted a trend of me reading these books by established authors mucking about, explaining their way of writing, without ever having read a single other book of theirs. It seems... odd. Unfortunately Sir Terry P never wrote such a book himself, or I'd keep it under my pillow. There's still time for Georgie-boy though.
Ooh, I am planning on finally reading A Wizard of Earthsea, if I like it I'll totally make sure to read UKLG's book about writing.
Anyway, that's about all from me today.
Thank you so much for your support, and I wish you pleasant reading this week!
