Update #109 Our goths are in another burg!

If someone greets you like that you can immediately conclude two things: they're named Glenn, and they were born with the very same curse that Tanathil was given.

Rendering has begun, and the very first scene is finished. I've also started setting up the poses for the second scene. So progress has been solid this week!

It's not the first time an episode begins with the Empress having a chat, a lot of it was initially planned for the end of last episode, but I decided to end it earlier. Partially because I wanted to release just a bit quicker, but mostly because it felt right. More dramatic to end it right there, and not have a slow scene after. Such where my thoughts, at least.

This episode will feature a flashback scene later. I don't do those for the most part, but I came up with this one... Probably like a year ago? It's so goddamn stupid that I decided then and there that it has to be in the game. So, uh, look forward to that?

Flashbacks, dream sequences, prophecies, prologues, and what nots. Don't care for them, just a personal taste thing. I think it's just that I want stuff to happen, and for them to actually happen. That said, there are plenty of examples out there of these things done extraordinarily well, and even I will enjoy them at that point. But for the most part there's a voice screaming in my head, "Get on with it!"

Which is to say that when I decided that I wanted to add a flashback, it's because it really tickled me. I'm not sure anyone else will find it nearly as funny, but I'll for sure enjoy making it.

Should 2D butterflies be called butterflats or flatterflies?

I'm sure many of you have noticed that Steam and Itch have been pressured to remove a lot of NSFW content from their respective stores, similar to Patreon a while ago. At this stage it's not something that's going to affect me or this game, but it's naive to only start caring once you're the one getting hit.

Payment processors shouldn't be allowed to act like some sort of morality police, to pick and choose what they would like to censor. If something is considered harmful and in need of banning, then it's up to actual legislators to put that in law. I'd urge everyone that cares to sign what petitions there are to sign, inform people, and to make some noise about this in general.

That's about all I have to say on the subject. In all honesty, I don't feel informed enough to write anything in-depth. In general I would advise anyone and everyone to properly inform themselves before having strong opinions on any given subject, and that's true in this situation as well.

Next scene, and therefore next week's previews, will feature most of the main cast. Well, at least briefly. So we'll get to see them again in update 110, yay!

I suppose I might as well tell you a little bit of my future plans, now that I have some. The current idea is to have ten episodes, and then a finale. Reason being, ten episodes and a finale sounds better than eleven episodes.

Basically, four more releases. Ideally that means I finish the game at some point next year. That sounds good to me, at least. There will be a point when I'm not as invested or passionate about making the game, and I would like to finish before that. You know, move on to something else, keep things fresh and interesting.

I think for me, the ideal scenario would be to find a 2d artist to work with on a next game. But I'll see where I'm at when episode ten releases and make a more informed decision then, maybe have a poll about it.
