Update #60 New beginnings

Hello, hello, hello!

What do you think of the new banner up top? I'm worried it's a little bit too dark, but otherwise I'm rather pleased with it. Got myself a new profile picture too, and updated the Patreon tier pictures as well. The only thing annoying me is that Discord nukes the resolution of my pretty new profile picture into oblivion.

Were you wondering what the render up top is about? I wanted to make a picture for my signature over on f95, so I've been working on that. I've got this one done, but I wanted to make a few more in case others wanted to rep the game with other characters (it's absolutely not because I enjoyed the process of making this one and feel like making more).

An earlier attempt at the picture up top. Somewhat humble in comparison.

For this week I've been mostly focusing on getting the first version of the draft done. It's pretty much finished and I'll write the last bit either later today or tomorrow. I think it's coming along quite nicely, even if it didn't go in the direction I thought it was. Anyway, we're delving deeper into the main plot.

A main plot that I'm kind of discovering along with you all. I mean, I always knew where the story was going to end, but the road there was never clear in my mind. I think my brain is too chaotic to function with a story that is structured from the get-go, but a little more prep would've probably been good.

Oh, well. It's stuff like this one learns from so that we can do better the next time.

Here's the first attempt to add a little bit of magic to the image. Too discreet for what's going to be used as a small image in a signature, I thought.

Speaking of next time, I always feel like I'm starting over from scratch when I start working on a new episode. It's all "Oh woe is me, I've nothing to show for my work." But step-by-step more stuff gets done, and before I know it I'm halfway to a finished episode.

The power of not trying to do everything in a single mad spurt. Something that took me a long time to learn. No wonder programming courses were my bane.

So, about the polls. I feel like I'm rarely able to predict what's going to win. I suppose it wouldn't be very interesting if I could, there would be no point to the polls in that case. If anything, I quite like that I don't really know how things will end up, and I enjoy rolling with the results as I'm writing the story. Chaos brain things, I guess.

We'll be doing the final clothing polls next week were you'll get to decide on outfit colors. I'm thinking there will be a main and an off color for the outfit itself, and then some color choices for certain accessories by themselves. There is a risk that the result becomes a little messy, but such is the price of democracy!

And this is the first attempt with fancier magic, pretty close to the final thing. In some ways I even like this one more.

For something completely different, I'm finally re-reading LOTR. In English this time, last time I read it in Swedish. I am just so, so impressed by Tolkien's way with words. Even the prologue when he's just describing hobbits is enjoyable to read. Why? I have no clue, it's just something with the way he writes.

Looking forward to being even more impressed going forward, so much of the books have been overwritten by the movies for me. I mean, I was eight years old the first and last time I read them, so I'll be reading with a very different perspective as well. I think I shan't be revisiting The Silmarillion, though.

Anyway, that's about as much as I have to say today.

Thank you very much for your support, and may Saranhil bless your week!
