Somehow knowing what happens makes it even harder to watch than the first time, because I can't even enjoy the few happy moments in the film. Films like this give me such a melancholy sadness, and that feeling always takes a while to wear off. That was a wonderful reaction from you ladies, thank you for reminding me of this great movie.💜

Isao Takahata the director of this movie was the co-founder of Studio Ghibli along with Hayao Miyazaki Studio Ghibli movies always have complex plots that challenge your view of life. This movie showed that there are no winners in war and both sides good or bad have innocents who suffer.

The impression is still a bit raw and needs to be digested so not much to say, quite the uncomfortable feeling during most of the movie. as a sidenote, mad respect for you always being so active in the comments, both here and on youtube.
