̷N̷o̷v̷e̷m̷b̷e̷r̷ ̷ I mean, erm…December update!

where the fuck did November go? I should really start taking my medication… anyways we’re back and we have something to show for it, I think.

[ MISSING IN ACTION... ]

well, we had a very strong start in October, I mean you guys really came through, and we’re actually honoured that you’re all still here now the dust has settled!

the idea on paper, was to just keep powering throughout November! content content content! But I can’t lie boys, we suffered a small case of the fucking burnouts last month! I personally really wanted to get something done for November and actually started playing around quite seriously with some concepts, such as Otachan as a late night 80s NHK newscaster. Check out some of the aesthetics below.

the concept was to almost throwback to our pre-anime style writing and have the English dubbed otachan ranting about a given topic back in her classic studio. But unfortunately, the concept didn’t quite come together in time, and ultimatley I decided why rush it. 

If it’s a good idea, let’s take our time with it and release it down the line. What do you guys think? Would you fuck with a throwback to our older style of writing and see otachan placed behind that desk once more?

[ EPISODE TWO PRODUCTION… ]

so, we took the break in November, which actually allowed us to shift our focus fully back to the production and release of episode two! Currently we have received all of our cuts back from Japan and are in the process of compositing, foley and music design. So we’re looking at a release towards the end of December, with our aim being before Christmas. Don’t tell them I told you, but it’s probably December 23rd. With all you early access patrons most likely getting it a week before!

[ MERCHANDISE & ARTBOOK… ]

Looook at this isn’t it cool as shit, *ahem* I mean, merchandise sales have gone insanely well, selling out pretty quickly but we’re looking to get a final restock in before episode two drops! After that though, DROP 0 is out of circulation. However, working on the artbook really has me wanting to put together a much larger one for the whole studio!

[ FINDING OUR FEET AND A LITTLE RETROSPECTIVE…]

It feels like second chance time for old otakuversus industries, and we couldn’t be more grateful, videos are performing, merchandise is selling, otachan is dying, it feels like a Christmas™ miracle or some shit. But I’m not going to bullshit you boys, there’s been a little bit of soul searching going on over here. Although right now there’s been this huge success, there is a smidge of pressure to maintain, not to fumble the bag, per se.

But we took some time, and a couple of deep breaths and realised that we’re not doing any of this for those things, sure money and clout is cool and one day it will lead me to a hot cosplay e-girl wife but ultimately, we just want to make cool stuff. I look back at a lot of our writing this year and realise that we have written so many different shows, pilots, one offs, episodes, and we think that going forwards we want to pursue them. Like I said before, we’re not out here to become millionaires, or internet darlings or any of that sh*t. 

We just want to follow in the footsteps of other animators and other studios that have inspired us in the past. So, our modus operandi going into next year, is to stick to what we know best. Cute dysfunctional girls doing cute dysfunctional things.
