My Boyfriend's a Werecat! Demo coming Q1 2019

Heyyo Everybody! I may have mentioned this before once or twice, but I want to formally announce the game I am currently working on, My Boyfriend's a Werecat!

Its a romantic comedy about a long term relationship put to the test when one of them comes down with a terrible case of being a Werecat! it is a tale of loves, laughter, and transformations!

the game is a visual novel made in Unity, not dissimilar to the last game I made, Halfway Home. My 2019 resolution is to have this game completed and finished (or at least half finished, as I'll explain in a bit) by the years end. I have already been working on the game for the past few months, having gotten pretty much all the pre-production out of the way, and the writing for the first section drafted up, which I plan to release the demo soon-ish.

How Long Will the Game be?

The story is much more streamlined compared to the nonlinear maze-like structure of Halfway Home, and can be broken down as follows:

Prologue - Act 1 - Intermission - Act 2 - Epilogue

(and for any pedantic out there, the prologue and epilogue really just the start of act 1, and the end of act 2, and i am only calling them out separately for development markers and certain narrative beats, than traditional prologues and epilogues)

So, as of now, the Prologue is entirely written out, and just needs some stray art assets to be added to finish it up for beta-reading/playtesting. Once those art assets are in (hopefully in a week or so), I'll be sending it around to some people for the playtesting/beta-reading, and once that is done, I plan on posting the prologue as a free demo of the game for all to play!

So, when will the demo be out?

Well, I like to be both optimist and realistic, and game development takes time, especially when you need to juggle a full time job on top of it.

My optimistic projection is at the end of January, but my pessimistic projection is March. so, overall, some time in the first quarter of 2019!

So, when is the game be finished, you think?

Again, I am kind of caught between when i want it to be finished, and what I feel like it will take. I want the full game to be complete by the years end, but pessimistically, I feel I'll likely only get all of Act 1 done, and might release the game in two parts (one for each act), but thats a talk for another day.

You mentioned transformations?

Oh yes, there will be a lot of transformation sequences in this sucker. At least 9, at a minimum. all pretty extensive. The prologue has 1 in it, and that sequence's art is actually whats holding up the demo right now...

Is there any way I can see it early?

Oh yes! As said, I need beta-readers/playtesters, and I would love to share it with you, my lovely paterons, provided your okay seeing a massive work in progress. I admittedly, am a bit of a perfectionist, and am reluctant to share things I don't think are "finished", but I really want to open up the development to you all, so I guess that'll be something I have to get over!

Also, after the demo, I'll likely start posting WIPs of any CGs in it, and and drafts of Act 1's writing, if anyone is up to see that.

So, what is the plan moving forward?

Well, I plan of building out and posting a more in depth timeline of my plans, sometime this week, so for now, I'll just stick to the direct plans of January

-build out the full production timeline, and goal posts

-finish the art for the prologue, so I can send out playable builds.
