Free from the goo, sidearm out; the bug's days are numbered.

Troopers are trained to escape sticky situations exactly like this one.

Her forearms get a nice waxing, but she can handle it. It could be worse.

It brought a friend! Scouts never work alone.

Kim should take note. This really is a learning experience for her: 1) "also look up" and now 2) "bring a friend".

Kim: "Why you litte...! "

The mucus is an effective restraint, it sticks to anything it touches and is pretty difficult to remove. Kim is aware, and doesn't dare touch anything with her slimed hand. Better take care of the hornet first, cleanup comes later.

This wasn't a great hit, but the bugger probably has a few more in him (yes, this one is male, a scout). He will try again, if Kim doesn't get him first.

Somewhere off in the distance, a barely audible insectoid equivalent of: "Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!"

Kim: "What's that sound...?"

The new critter is called a binder hornet. I will add more info on it in the lore document ASAP.

----

I hope everyone has been enjoiying their holidays (assuming you got those). This will be the last drawing of the year. I've added it to the archive here, or in this month's archive post.

Kim made her way to the general area the buggers were last spotted. She parked her car well away, so they don't get spooked by the engine noise, and continues on foot.

Only one bugger was spotted, so this should be a quick and easy one. Still, she packed plenty of ammo, you never know....

The new drawing can also be found here, in Kim's folder, or in this month's archive post.

Kim takes another job while Evie stays home with her baby.

It should be an easy one, just swatting some flies. Really, getting to the place these things have been spotted seems more work than actually taking out these little buggers.

WIP (Kim's story)

"Look at my baby boy! Isn't he handsome?"

----

Just a small WIP this time, as I am working on the new story. Making things work with flying buggers is a bit challenging....

The drawing has been added to the archive, in Kim's folder in concepts, here.

New story concept

Here are some ideas I am working out for the next story.

This is Kim, last time we saw her, she was in the back of the APC in actual rescue party, after a pretty disastrous rescue mission ("Rescue Party"). She is doing a lot better now, ready to go back into the field.

Evie is not ready yet so she decided to go out on her own this time, for a quick and easy assignment.

The drawings here are also in the /Concepts/Kim folder in the archive here, or in this month's archive post.

Biolab 2: 20 (end)

She'll be doing a lot of overtime now.

I guess it's her fault for calling outside office hours.

The last drawing in this story (probably, nothing more planned yet) can be found here, or in this month's archive post.

If they don't pick up soon, these two are going to be in so much trouble...

Actually, why are they not answering?

Also, why is nobody picking up?

Good thing that hazmat team from earlier is in her most recent contacts list on her communicator, and this most recent contact can be reached with a single button press.

With all that glue on her hands she can't use a touchscreen, one button press is all she gets before whatever she touches is glued down and unusable.

Drawings can be found here, or in this month's archive post. Also, the archive links have been updated for November.

Time to see how Major Desi is doing.... It has been a while.

Even though the Major was smart enough to understand the slime mold can digest glue (no need to worry about suffocation anymore), she did not realize the glue is actually an excellent substrate for the mold. The glue is tasty, the mold will grow.

Some character sketches

Meet Steve, grunt, follows the rules. His two squadmates get to spend some quality time in the med bay after the events in biolab. Rather than giving him some time off, command paired him up with one of the mercs that happened to be avaiable: Sam. She's all better now, but perhaps not ready to go back out there, yet. She has been through serious stuff after all. Some nice and relaxed guard duty might be just what she needs.

On base, mercs need to wear the same uniforms as the troopers, except without a rank. Mercs get a little triangle on their shoulders for identification. Besides the actual clothes, the army's strict regulations don't apply to mercs.

Steve does not approve (sort of, it is complicated).

----

This was a practice drawing that turned into something more. I might use these 2 in an upcoming story. Perhaps.

Our boy was done before she was...

And this is how Lily's story ends. I have a vague idea for one more drawing, a kind of epilogue, maybe later.

The new drawing is in Lily's folder here.

It is just one finished drawing again this week. I will stick to one completed work a week for the forseeable future, more is not really sustainable.

Lily still has some fight in her. Will it be enough to drive it off, or will it just just annoy the lizard, who has been surprisingly nice to her, all things considered...

We should not forget about Lily, the little lizard sure didn't.

I am shifting my focus on continuing/finishing Lily's story. The cave is basically over, but there will be a short epilogue, soon.
