2025-12-10 17:10:28 +0000 UTCThe IRL Kitasan was what is known as an "Idol Horse" - a horse that fans flock to, adore, and cheer for win or lose - Kitasan was also known as the "festival horse" as it felt like everywhere he went was a festival which is partly what inspired Kitasans festival outfit motif in Uma form. His IRL owner was also a decently famous enka singer (a genre popular in the 50s-70s that combined traditional Japanese sounds with more modern pop music themes) and when Kitasan won he would put on a little mini-concert and sing. Japan absolutely adored Kitasan during his IRL career, even those who weren't really into horse racing. The towns-folk are a sort of stand-in for the everyday people IRL in Japan who rooted for their idol horse while going about their lives.

You can watch the movie first, but there will be various characters you don't know (kind of like watching season 2 before season 1). Because the ONA's only "aired" online, they vary in time bewteen 24 to 27 minutes.

2025-11-27 16:53:03 +0000 UTCAlso warning, remember on season 2 where they show unique endings on some episodes? It is pretty much mandatory to watch it on this season because it's pretty much an extension of the episode. It's safe to skip if they used the normal ED tho.

If they share the same mother irl, but not the same father irl. How to know if they're from a huge family? if they share the same namesake of their farm (i.e mejiro, satono) and do you know that the owner of the the satono horses irl is Hajime Satomi, the founder and former CEO of Sega Sammy Holdings (yes, that sega). What happens with our past protagonists now? well, at this point on the anime, irl they're... you know. But maybe this tidbit will help, Tracen academy or what other uma musume media had claimed, Japan Umamusume Training Center Academy or Japan Umamusume Training Schools and Colleges is from what the name says and actually has a middle school section too. They can start from middle school, to high school and specialize further. While the school is geared towards racing, it is a proper educational institution with a huge history and backing (think of the same level like harvard). Not all of the students are racing since we actually see a sports science section too. Aside from the anime's original winter dream trophy racing circuit which is entirely fictional (but has some real world grounds to it based on what the real japan racing association commercial did) where they go after they achieved their irl achievements, after this sentence everything is anecdotal but I like to think Tracen is where they want to stay until further retirement because it is the most prestigious institution for umamusume in japan and they can accommodate their decorated veteran uma musume. I also like to think there's monetary deals too like an advertisement for the academy, as well as merch and royalties and stuff for the retired racers as well.
