2024-11-28 13:12:32 +0000 UTCYou're correct. Steins Gate is a visual novel released in 2009 that was created as a self contained completed story. The anime came out in 2011. Steins Gate 0's visual novel was created years later in 2015, which was made into the anime in 2018. Basically Steins Gate 0 was not planned. So the fact they can create this alternate timeline story years after the original.. that somehow can recontextualize scenes from the original and still have it make sense within the complex time travel mechanics the original story setup is damn impressive.
