2026-01-21 16:17:57 +0000 UTCThere's actually a few things foreshadowing Yubel in previous seasons. In Season One, Jaden and his friends are telling ghost stories and he says that he used to hear monster spirits as a kid and that he would wake up in the middle of the night before they one day just stopped. (It's kinda messed up that Jaden/Judai being such a goofy and in serious protagonist with poor learning skills could be due to having his memories messed with to get rid of his trauma.) In Season Two, when facing off against the Light of Destruction, he is given a glimpse of the future, showing Duel Academy stranded in a greenish desert and then a monster's silhouette. That silhouette was Yubel's upgraded form. Also, as a side note: given Yubel's backstory with Judai's past life, their appearance, and Judai himself being a pretty open person with no clear preferences, Judai is the only LGBT+ protag in the series.

2026-01-14 20:44:20 +0000 UTCFor why S4 is shorter than the rest, there's a mix of reasons but not sure which is true. One was that Judai's voice actor wanted to do other projects and the other was that 5Ds was around the corner and they probably ran out of time to make a full S4. Also they wanted to start selling Synchros so that's another possible reason. This also seems to be part of the reason why S4 was never dubbed, they just wanted to go onto 5Ds.
