The oldest electric drill I've ever had my hands on!

The red insulator is probably Bakelite (branded also with other names), you can easily find flat boards and rounds in various size on the popular chinese website. Can be of various colours depending on the base material; from woody brown to red, to bright orange

Awesome as always, Eric! Re: the red stuff - 'micarta' type materials were around when the drill was being built, eh?

Derek Waters

For drilling thin metal get a good quality step drill. Worth every penny.

Grant Pluntze

It looks more like an electric meat grinder than a drill. Does it have an attachment for that?

Thank you!

What a awesome drill. Eric you once again you surpassed even my expectations. The labels and Japanning were the icing on the cake. Well done.

I have just added looseosity to my vocabulary. Perfect.

That red stuff, I don't think it's asbestos, but you can check with our common friend My Mechanics. He did a project with some in it

Andrew Egerton

Real good shit Eric!

HamOnTheCob

A beastly breast borer for sure. Amazing job with all the fabrications it took to get this back to original.

Edward Conway

If there aren't some "breast is best" jokes in here I shall be disappointed.
