The sound of branches breaking rang out continuously. The knights’ leader felt something was wrong and frowned. The feeling only got stronger as he continued walking. 'How come the other knights aren’t here yet? Have they already entered the castle? No, that can’t be it.'
“Everyone stop.” The knight's leader suddenly raised his hand and stopped the three knights who were with him.
“Leader, what’s wrong?”
“Is there an enemy?”
"Captain, what happened?"
The other three knights clutched their swords and scanned the surroundings vigilantly.
“Something’s wrong. We haven’t seen anyone else after all this time, so something must have definitely happened.” The knights’ leader said, sweat dripping from his forehead. This was a situation he had never encountered before.
“No way, right? They would have sent out a signal if they got attacked. There hasn’t been any sound at all.”
“Captain, you’re too cautious. No one that powerful would stay here in this barren city..”
“Yeah. There wasn’t any abnormality along the way. Besides, this isn’t even a good place to set an ambush.”
All of the knights tried to convince their leader. They had never encountered any problems before, so they believed that it would be the same today.
The knights’ leader frowned. 'Am I really too cautious? Even I can’t deal with them silently. They would definitely shout as long as they didn’t get killed in one strike. They weren’t weak, either, as all of them could last a few moves against me.'
“No, that’s not right.” The knights’ leader said. He trusted his instinct as it had saved him several times.
"Crack. Crack. Crack."
The sound of the dead branches being stepped on suddenly sounded. 'Why is there a sudden sound? What does it mean?'
The knights’ leader widened his eyes and looked in the direction of the castle. The appearance of the sound meant that his enemy had done it on purpose and was already very close to him.
Dark clouds covered the moon, blocking moonlight and hindering their vision. The sound was loud and clear under the silent night. Each sound was louder than the previous one. The enemy was walking towards them.
“Who’s there?” The knights’ leader shouted. His voice was sharp and loud echoing in the forest.
“Who are you? And how dare you deceive us?”
The knights had ugly expressions as their companions didn’t respond to the knights’ leader’s signal.
The sound of the branches cracking stopped suddenly. The dark clouds moved away from the moon, revealing a single figure in front of them.
Mina's figure seemed to suddenly appear from the darkness. Mina wore a leather armor that Lucas had custom-made on Earth. The outside of the armor had scale-like steel pieces, making the armor look like a piece of art. It was made of special steel and was as good as the heavy infantry armor, but it was much lighter. It had cost Lucas a few hundred thousand dollars for the customisation.
When Mina first got the armor, she was so excited that she wore the armor to sleep, and she woke up with dark circles under her eyes the next day. If Lucas hadn’t persuaded her to take it off, she would have probably worn it for three days straight.
Mina's long hair was tied into an updo hairstyle, her purple eyes were full of killing intent and she said in a cold voice, “This path is off limits.”
“Oh, it’s just a female beastkin. What, is there no one else left?” The knights’ leader said, trying to provoke Mina and get information out of her. He recognized Mina and knew that the other party had been bought by Carter and his son to be locked in the dungeon. After all, the commoner who sold the female beastkin had been killed by him and he looted his copper coins. After all, Carter was a stingy man.
“This is the end for you.” Mina said. She slightly shook her hands and two military knives appeared in her hands. “I don’t know whether to say that you are lucky or unlucky to be able to reach this place.”
“What do you mean?” The knights’ leader said, clutching his longsword. He didn’t underestimate Mina as he knew that she had to be strong to dare to appear right in front of them.
“The literal meaning… ing.” As soon as she said “mean”. Mina suddenly moved really fast from her place toward the knights. In the knight's eyes she looked like she disappeared from her previous place.
“What? On your guard.”
“Not good. She’s too fast for it."
The knights’ eyes got dizzy as they tried to follow Mina’s movements. Mina got closer and closer, until all they saw was a pair of purple eyes.
…
"Clang. Slice. Whoosh. Kachak."
A black silhouette passed them, followed by the sound of steel colliding and the sound of a sharp weapon slicing through leather armor was heard in the next second.
Under the moonlight, Mina turned her back to the four. She shook off the blood on her military knife, and the four knights fell down one by one.
"Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud."
The mouth of the fallen knight's captain moved, and blood gushed out from his mouth. A muffled voice came out.
“What a fast… sword…”
A line of blood appeared on four knight necks, and the knights’ captain had a hole in his chest, and blood spurted out from under the leather armor.
Mina was worthy of the title of Ghost Walker, the four of them were killed in an instant. None of them had lasted more than two moves against her.
“Only the royal knights are worthy to be my opponents.” The indifferent voice sounded, and the slender figure slowly stepped into the darkness. Even though she was usually very cute and well-behaved in front of Lucas, it was just that she restrained herself. But out here, she is the Ghost Walker, walking the path of killing.
