Hello everyone!
At the end of August last year, I started development of my first project, which later became known as "Short Stories". Initially, I created this project for myself and worked on it in the evenings. At that point, I was just creating something that I liked, and it didn't take up too much of my time.
After finishing development, I was so satisfied with my work that I thought: "Why don't I share my creativity? I think this game is very good." So, after a few days spent polishing, my first game was tested by its first players. I received a lot of feedback and thought again: "Why not continue developing?" Since I had a lot of free time, I started working on the second chapter of "Short Stories".
Unlike the first, the second chapter was supposed to reveal a small story about the lives of some students. I started working on the new episode with great zeal and passion. I had a lot of ideas, plans, custom assets, and other things. At some point, I thought: "Damn it, how can I fit all this into one small chapter?" After thinking about it for a couple of days, I decided that with such an abundance of assets and ideas, coupled with quite a lot of experience in Daz3D, Photoshop, Marvelous Designer, Substance Painter and other programs, I am capable of something more.
So, at the end of September last year, the development of "University of Problems" began. If you only knew how eagerly I worked on the first installment. I hardly ever left my computer. After about a month and a half, version 0.1 was published for the public. A titanic work was done! And it was worth it! I saw that I had not wasted my time and effort on developing something for a larger audience. I received a lot of feedback, personal messages, suggestions and recommendations. And at that moment, I had no more doubts: "I must continue further".
After that, it took about four months, four hard months, during which I tried to squeeze the most out of myself and my computer. Now that my highest Patreon goal has been achieved, I have made some time to tell my little story and express my gratitude to all of you.
I would like to thank all of you for your kind words, your feedback, your appreciation and all of your support. It is only because of your interest in "University of Problems" that I continue to carry the heavy burden of developing such a large project.
I will not hide that during these 4 months I have faced a lot of problems: lack of time, the cryptocurrency mining boom that still won’t allow me to replace my old GTX 1060 as well as small hitches stemming from apathy and laziness. However, every day I wake up and think to myself: "These people are counting on me. They expect more and better. So, stop whining like a little bitch and get to work! You have achieved your goal so do what you promised and move on to the next goal!" And you know? This method works. I see that with each update, the game becomes better and gains popularity. Yes, in some areas, I may have rested on my laurels, but this does not mean that it is possible to stop here. Not at all. UoP has a lot more to come, and I hope that UoP is not my last project because I already have interesting ideas for my next game.
Many of you will probably say: "Dude, hire a team! It will be easier for you, and you will be able to develop the game faster." However, I suffer from perfectionism and the desire for total control. So, at the moment, it is easier for me to work alone. Plus, I believe that when several people work on a game, it can easily lose its unique style. At the same time, I do have help with proofreading, translation, and a few other things. A special huge thank you to those who help me with this. l love you guys!
I try not to make empty promises, and rest assured that I will continue to make every effort to develop and improve UoP. In the meantime, I hope that all of you will have fond memories of your time at Pleasant Valley University.
Phew, I've written a lot. In short, thank you all again! I love you! And now it's time for me to get back to work on the next update.
With gratitude,
Dream Now.
P.S. The Patreon didn't allow me to use this image for a couple of minutes, claiming that there is nudity here. Carol... What else can I say?
