The Carnivore Club

Towards the end of his first year in college, Legoshi looks back on some heavy decisions after joining up with a new group of carnivores.

It was almost the end of Legoshi's first year of college, and the wolf was certainly feeling the weight of his decisions for the past year. He was sitting on his bed, cramming- that is, cramming for a calculus exam with one hand, and cramming a tuna salad sandwich in his mouth with the other- one of a dozen since he had started studying for the night. His new friends, Tobo and Kurok, always made sure he had snacks on hand- their cooking kept Legoshi calm and sated, and judging by the size of the wolf, he should have been relaxed enough to reach some sort of state of enlightenment.

Legoshi, once lean and lanky, had grown into a massively corpulent canine- he had blown past the Freshman 15 with no signs of slowing down, his weight skyrocketing ever since he fell in with Tobo and Kurok, the only other members of the Carnivore Culinary Club. Now, his boulder-sized belly filled his lap, a thick apron of gray furred-lard tumbling out of his white tanktop, the cloth clinging to his pillow-like chest. His once lean and toned arms were caked in blubber, rounded shoulders and a double chin rolling out under his muzzle. His legs had grown thick as tree trunks, with a rear round and flabby enough to take up a bench whenever he sat. He tried to think about when this gluttonous habit of his, with food never far from his hands and an appetite that was never completely full began, and thought back to when he first met the Carnivore Club…

It had been Campus Club Day, where every student organization was jockeying for new members. As a college freshman, Legoshi first thought back to the drama club at Cherryton, but on his way to sign up, he came across Kurok and Tobo. The first thing he noticed about them was their sheer size- aside from the natural size difference between a wolf, a crocodile, and a bear, the bear Tobo and crocodile Kurok were massive, with thickly roped, muscular limbs, but enormously thick and round middles. They latched on to him quickly, and introduced themselves- the only two members of the Carnivore Culinary Club- or just Carnivore Club for short.

"Our whole thing is expanding our fellow carnivore's palates- more than eggs and protein supplements, you know?" Tobo explained.

"All ethically so, of course- no harm to any herbivores," Kurok added.

To Legoshi, this sounded somewhat suspicious- but there was also a curious side to him. "What do you mean, more than eggs or supplements? What else is there? Bugs?"

The two glanced around, gesturing for Legoshi to lean in closer. "Have you ever had fish before?"

Legoshi furrowed his brow. "Fish."

"It's totally cool," Tobo said, the bear holding up his large hands. "The Sublime Beastar even said so. This is new, super cutting edge. Wanna help your fellow carnivores and make some history?"

"I- I'm not much of a cook, myself…"

"You'll learn!" Kurok patted his back. "Tobo, look at this skinny dog- I feel like I wanna take him home and feed him."

The bear rolled his eyes. "Stop teasing him. Look, freshman, why don't you see what we can do, first? You know what they say- never trust a skinny chef." Tobo then patted his thick middle. "Which means we've gotta be the most trustworthy people on campus, hah!"

A small belch escaped Legoshi's mouth as he wolfed down his sandwich. Setting his calculus book down, he grunted as he hoisted his immense bulk up, his belly bouncing as it sank nearly as low as his knees. He caught his reflection in the mirror- or, at least, as much of him as could fit in the floor-length mirror. He placed a hand on his belly, idling rubbing at it. There was just so much of him, now. Yet, he didn't hate it. Oh, to be certain, he had heard all the concerns about his ballooning weight- but Tobo and Kurok were proud of how far he had come. Like they said, never trust a skinny chef- and Legoshi had spent a good chunk of the year learning the craft. This new fish meat, even while still using eggs and other protein alternatives, had vastly expanded his palate, and soon, every carnivore knew that the soft spoken wolf was the best person to speak with, to try good food that could finally sate their instincts.

He was introduced to tilapia, first, and shrimp- that led him to being merely chubby. By the time salmon and sushi came around, he could hardly hide his excess weight, and Kurok and Tobo just made so much food that Legoshi couldn't bear to see it go to waste. By the time calamari, tuna, and lobster had been introduced to his palette, the wolf was the biggest canine on campus by far. Eventually, the other carnivores in his dormitory noticed, and started asking questions about where all that extra poundage was coming from. Now, the Carnivore Club was one of the biggest clubs on campus- in member numbers and sheer tonnage, if the average weight of their members were considered.

Legoshi barely realized how many minutes passed by as he reflected on the year, still kneading his belly like dough- already, he felt like another sandwich, just one more to top the night off. The wolf had always tried to be, if not passive, sanguine with the challenges in his life- and he was feeling calm about his body. Maybe even liking it?

That got a laugh out of the wolf, shaking his jowls. He cringed thinking about the reaction when he went back home for break- what would his friends in Cherryton say? He would have to grin and bear it, especially if Louis got a good look at him. Maybe it was for the best, anyways- it was a tremendous amount of weight, and maybe over break he could start shedding a few pounds. For certain, however, he was going to be much more responsible about his eating habits in sophomore year.
