Maomao knows and her direct colleagues/coworkers know but it would be hard to actually have other people be on the lookout for her. The best they could potentially do is commission an artists to draw her based on descriptions alone, so not exactly precise and involving a ton of people that generally shouldn't know about the behind the scenes stuff going on in the palace.

2025-06-12 14:35:28 +0000 UTCI believe her early revulsion to Jinshi's advances were because they weren't genuine, just part of his facade and persona. Having grown up in the pleasure district, she's probably unconsciously distinguish between false affection and the genuine sort. Maomao does mention during the times that Jinshi drops the persona and "acts more childish" (i.e. is being his actual 19 year old self, not the act of a 24 eunuch) that she "much prefers him this way". He's now pretty much dropped any act around Maomao now, so she's no longer creeped out by shows of affection, although may have concerns what that means given she thinks he's deceiving the Emperor by faking being a eunuch.

Suirei is back and kidnaps Maomao! Shishou is colorblind, like the people of the western regions, and... the old royal family! Shenlu has been working hard to kill off royal children for who knows how long? How does it all tie together? Find out in the next episode! Well, maybe not, I just always wanted to say this XD Anyway, absolute masterpiece of an episode. My reaction when I watched it was pretty much the same as yours :O

2025-06-11 21:07:04 +0000 UTCIt was a one time thing i would think, and color blindness. Shishou has the bloodline of The Mother Royal in him. Maomao didn't have a choice but to go with Suirie. She had Shisui hostage and was gonna stab her if she didn't go. That said, it's weird that Shisui was there as a hostage. Suierie has only 1 funcional arm. She should have been able to get away.

You are all of us when you realise that all of this was planted earlier in the anime, as early as when Maomao first met Suirei on that hill at the military barracks. And your Shisui theories.. Approximations for the pronunciation in english would be: Ah-Duo: Ah-Do-o(h) (“Do” like in to do) Suirei: Suey-ray (like in Chop Suey; i mean, she threatened to chop Maomao, so Chop Suirei.. yeah, bad pun, better memory assist) Shisui: She-suey

2025-06-11 16:45:42 +0000 UTCOK Flexi. this is it. Remember Apothecary Diaries is a two season story arc, all the unanswered questions you've had over last two seasons will be answered by the end. And it all begins with this episode. I would recommend a notepad and pen to keep up with the lineage of everyone, there's a ton of similar sounding names and it's easy to get confused.
