DEATH NOTE - Bonus Scenes: (Kira at L's Funeral) (L's "Monster" Speech)

These were really cool, thank you to the community and my mods for sharing these with me!

The Monster Speech Clip was cut. There is still more to the scene after the Monster Speech. Why cut the clip?

"Light simultaneously manipulated both L and Rem to get a result that benefitted him the most." That's something you say and is not supported by the actual show. There is zero evidence for that. After he executed his big plan he was in the exact same situation as before. He just gave L more evidence to prove that he in fact is Kira. 1. Why did the police say no to L throwing out his hypothesis that the 13 day rule is fake? Testing it out would've been zero issue for them because the death penalty exists within Japan. But oh, once Near throws out the *EXACT* same hypothesis they just...agree that he might be right? Ok. They killed L due to incompetence. And no, the reasoning "if you write a name once you have to do so every 13 days wasn't sound." Just take a criminal sentenced to death and let him write another persons name who is also sentenced to death. Promise him if he does this he is allowed to life (but don't show him the rules, obviously). Done, Kira case solved. 2. Light didn't manipulate Rem. Light deliberately lost with the knowledge that his cheat code would act once Misas health bar got to low. That's not really a high IQ move. Losing on purpose because you know that the universe won't let you lose isn't impressive. It's pathetic and him flexing afterwards just showcases what an absolute self observed idiot he is. Imagine if Rem *didn't* kill L. Imagine if Rem decided "No, I thought about it and actually, I don't want to die." Or heck, imagine if Rem wasn't in love with Misa. What would Light have done in that case? Well...he would've lost. But the universe said "No, we are going to help you, you poor little baby boy." Deliberately losing isn't really a highly intelligent move. Especially because the only reason it worked is because the task force was just sooo in love with him. 2. Light asked Rem to kill L RIGHT after he met her for the first time. She instantly said yes. It objectively speaking doesn't take a genius to do that. The best case you could make for Light is that he is a master manipulator but that's not really supported by his actions. He just says stuff and people randomly fall for it. Why? "Ohhh, he is just sooo coool! かっこいい男だ!"´ Imagine if L had died right after Light asked Rem to do that. It would've almost been exactly the same circumstance. Only difference being that during that time he was able to avoid Lights cheap luck by being intelligent. But he could've done the same thing during episode 25. The police just said "Lol, no. That's immoral. We believe Light because we have feelings for our boy." 3. Why did Rem feel the need to kill L this quickly? Simple. Because L in *SOME* kind of way was about to solve the Kira case so she had to hurry up in order to protect Misa. In other words, Light lost the battle of intellect so he had to put in his cheat code in order to survive. You could argue that L was about to solve the case through the 13 day rule...but in that case Rem should've had plenty of time to also kill Light for putting Misa in danger. So, why the rush? And if L really was about to solve the case through the 13 day rule that just supports what I have been saying: The only difference between before Light executed his big plan and afterwards is that now L does have *more* evidence incriminating Light. But more on that next: 4. What changed between before he executed his plan and after he got the death note back? No, seriously. Tell me what *actually* changed between these 2 situations OTHER than the 13 day rule & the death note itself now being public knowledge? L almost instantly saw through the rule and he almost instantly said "Hey, is this one fake? We need to test it." The police were opposed to this showcased by them also not trying it out during the 4 years afterwards. Idiots. 5. And even if you ignore those 4 previous points it doesn't change the fact that the universe just handed him Rem as a cheat code on a silver plate. He just gets to have a gf with Shinigami eyes (which, to be fair, were close to being useless during the L part of the show) and a Shinigami who is/was willing to die for her. Isn't it awfully convenient that Rem is soooo in love with Misa that she would be willing to die for her? Light certainly did a lot to deserve this trump card/cheat code. I mean...he exists. He breathes. That certainly justifies him getting such a big joker. Again, this isn't any intellectual play he made here. The universe just handed him everything he needed on a silver plate and I am gonna be honest...it's probably because the OG mangaka wrote himself into a corner so he had to invent a cheat code to actually solve this issue. That's just my hypothesis but both the manga and anime support this pretty well. The thing is, the universe needed to give him this cheat code due to the unwritten rule that every Death Note *user* is haunted by misfortune. If Light were to die against L his misfortune caused by the Death Note would've been over. Just look at episode 30 and you see what I mean by that. 6. Lastly, you should watch the video "How Death Note got bad" by Big Joel to get the full argument about this which I can't lay out within a comment section. It would be way to long even for my standards. Let's just say the things he says within that video did get positive feedback and a lot of people agree with him. Honestly, I would argue that you were the one who missed how pointless all of this (Lights big plan, their back-and-forth, etc.) in the end actually was.

I've seen your other comments on Flexie's reactions and I'm not looking to start and argument or anything here which is why this is probably all I will say on this subject. You have clearly missed some details or you're, for whatever reason, ignoring them. Not just anyone can *convince* a Shinigami to kill their enemy, however, they can ask as you've said. Rem made is exceptionally clear that she would kill Light if he put Misa in any danger. Every part of Light's plan to reveal L's identity went exactly how he wanted it to, nothing about his plans were pathetic, especially since he technically did it all without actually relying on the Shinigami eyes that Misa had at two separate points in time. Light simultaneously manipulated both L and Rem to get a result that benefitted him the most.

Ryan

Nice scene in concept (the first one), but I am glad they cut it. With how pathetic Lights win actually was in execution this scene is basically just embarrassing to watch. Like...Light. You didn't do anything except ask a Shinigami to kill your enemy. *I* could do that. Flexie easily *obviously* could do that. He doesn't really deserve to flex on L's grave because L is the one who fought almost solely with intelligence while almost all of Lights feats were based purely on him being a lucky child. Now, L's monster scene on the other hand...is almost perfection. Like almost everything we see from his character. They should not have cut THAT one because it helps characterize Mello, Near and the orphanage.

Lighto San

I've never seen this wtf lol

This scene in dub is one of my all time favorites! Super iconic scene and the voice acting was insane

CadeNoCap

These come from the Death Note Relight movies. They are like condensed director's cuts of the show with some extra scenes added, but as far as I know the extra scenes are not canon to the original. Still a good watch though.

Trevor

The second one where L's telling a story about monster who tell lies with no remorse (Light), monsters who eat with no hunger (Mello) and monster who study with no interest (Near). But damn I wasn't expecting that 'I AM THAT MONSTER' quote and for him to go that deep.

Raunak Xrestha

The first one where Light is twerking on L's grave is simply diabolical on other level.

Raunak Xrestha

Thank you for watching it. It's really amazing and underrated scene.

Raunak Xrestha

safe to say Light enjoyed his victory xD this is more of an alternate version rather than something cut :) L's little speech was quite fascinating, nice little look into his mind :)

Kisame

lol i remember hearing the english dub audio of Light losing his shit at L's funeral trending on tiktok, the voice actor really killed it. i'm always team sub, but i actually recommend u listen to the dub after finishing death note! also wow, i've never heard that speech L gave to the kids before, i seriously wish they kept that in.
