I'm rewatching this, and I just wondered, since when is Maomao so concerned with the life of some noble? She was ready to risk her life. And then, right before she jumps in to save his life, she says, "I have to avoid getting beheaded," and then jumps in, risking getting her head cut off by the falling pillar. Like what? And right before putting the pieces together, she was thinking about Jinshi preparing himself for a ceremony. I feel like she subconsciously knew it could be Jinshi. And apparently, Jinshi isn't just some noble to her at this point.

2025-04-21 15:21:29 +0000 UTCI remember watching this for the first time I was SHOOK at that hit to MaoMao face and then her passed out at the end. AND the fact that Jinshi was almost assassinated! So this means that someone out there knows his true status, and has for quite awhile to incorporate this plan. This scene was HUGE. The concern on his face, the music at the end, it was done so well. And yes, we FINALLY get more of a confirmation as to who Jinshi really is. Stay tuned for more answers, and more questions… Side note: a lot of people make the comment about him walking instead of running, and someone mentioned it’s because of his status, same with how big of a deal it is that he’s carrying her himself, in front of everyone. Admittedly that’s also not something I thought of, just goes to show how heavy the cultural influence is and how high the societal standards and norms are.

Had I figured it out I would've just gone to Jinshi/Gaoshun to report my findings, but Maomao rushed to the ceremony, likely got concussed just trying to get in, unwillingly curried a favor from the person she loathes and tackled said noble which that action alone could have cost her her life despite saving his.

The same thing happened with solo leveling as well. I need to be more patient haha either way I'm always like on the edge of my seat waiting for the next things. These animes are TOO GOOD.

From an outsiders perspective it would already be against decorum for someone of noble birth carying a commoner, but it would be excusable since she saved his life. But if he did something like running with her to a doctor, he would be showing too great a concern for Maomao, it could draw unwanted (or even dangerous) attention to her

Lakan knew who jinshi was, but Jinshi saying "fuck it, Maomao comes first" he didnt see coming. This Anime is alot about the old chinese imperial and his culture. So it takes a while to get whats going on because we are not used to the customs of this culture and how big some of the for us little things where for them at the time.
