Yeah no, the dialog for Mutilation should have been more in terms of him finding out the Skill had been upgraded after many uses. He can (and has done in the past) save up points and allocated them mid-fight as needed like you mentioned, but skills he doesn’t control when they upgrade, they do that on their own

Consumed/ steals r the same thing. Regardless of how u want to word it he takes their abilities when he devours them. Also maybe i misinterpreted the novels and manhwa when I read it but he most definitely saved skill points to use them when he needed them or felt he needed them. He literally says “upgrade mutilation” right before it upgrades which maybe I just interpreted it as him telling the system to upgraded it when he actually was just reading it before we were shown the screen saying it was upgraded

Awesome episode this week! 11/10 but still was missing a few key points from the manhwa 1. They skipped out on the whole intro to the King ant explaining how his consume and evolve ability works. 2. Mutilate is the maxed out upgrade to his finisher move "fatal strike" and got an upgrade from him trying to use it to penetrate the chitin armor. 3. Elixir of life cures illness so body damage and health so it makes 0 sense to use it (didnt even thing about it in the manhwa, but makes it feel way more impactful that he tries everything he can to revive/heal her.

To clarify, he doesn’t “steal abilities and intelligence”, he evolves via consumption. Him gaing the ability to speak and use the other hunter’s abilities is achieved the same way he developed the toxin. Through consuming other lifeforms. As for your second point, it’s just incorrect. He gains points to level up his main stats, but his skills level through using said skills. He did not choose to level Fatal Strike in that moment, it just happened.

For those that don’t read. 1. The ant king steals the abilities and intelligence of anyone he devours which is y he had regeneration and ice abilities. 2. Jinwoo saves a majority of his skill points and upgrade points so that he can use them when he actually needs them so that he doesn’t waste them on abilities he doesn’t need. That’s y he leveled up his strength against the demon monarch when he realized he needed to be stronger. It’s also y he upgraded his mutilation skill to its max level cuz he realized he needed it to get through the ants skeleton.

This episode exceeded the manwha here and then some. Haven’t seen a fight like this in any anime done so well. It was also a nice touch to see Jinwoo use the elixir of life on Cha Hae-in and it not work as I don’t remember that being used in the manwha.

They cut out too much hype from the manhwa. Although the animation was great, it was a bit underwhelming Jinwoo’s entrance in the manhwa had so much aura, it fell flat here. Then they cut out a lot of the Korean S-rank hunter dialogue hyping up Jinwoo, namely hunter Baek’s. Then they cut his scene arising the ants to fight the other ants

The Ant King as a skill called Predation, that allows him to gain power and knowledge from eating parts of his enemies. Which is how he can speak Korean/Japanese, the Ice powers, and the regenerative healing abilities.

This fight was... Underwhelming compared to the manwha. They failed to explain so many things in favor of animation budget and go go fast. This should have been a two-episode fight, IMO. It's fine if others disagree, but I was disappointed after all the build up.

That episode solidified Solo Leveling as a landmark anime in my viewing experience. The fight is in my top 3 (personally witnessed) all time 1v1 fights. Bravo A1. Bravo Solo Leveling. Brava, Flexie for being so fun to enjoy it with.

Even as a light novel and manwha reader, I found the battle exceeded all my expectations and hopes. Also, in the light novels, Jinwoo broke the TV before he used Shadow Exchange so that his mom wouldn't see him if he showed up on the feed. But anyways, definitely one of my favorite reactions of yours. And loved the casual cosplay.
