So Oda, the author, has a Q&A segment where he answers fan questions, responds to mail, and so on. He drops a fair bit of minor lore in his segment. At one point, he was asked about the sleep cycles of the crew. According to him, both Luffy and Zoro have irregular sleep schedules. Zoro sleeps for three hours each night from 4am to 7, then takes periodic naps throughout the rest of the day. Luffy gets about five hours of sleep each day, on average, but he just sleeps whenever he feels tired, usually wherever he is at that moment in time. To note, Nami gets eight hours, from 11pm to 7, Usopp gets seven hours, from 1am to 8, and Sanji sleeps from midnight to five.

(How many times will I repeat this to people?) This is not true. It is an internet rumor with no real Japanese proof, and it was made up by One Piece theorists. She literally fell down stairs because her sword needed to be sharpened. The point being that humans are fragile, not that she gave up.

In Japan, "falling down the stairs" is an expression meaning child suicide, and is only used to explain it to other children. Zoro is my favorite character in one piece and his backstory hits you right in the heart.

What's even more sad about Kurinas death is that she fell down the stairs on her way to sharpen her sword after her and zoros fight. So in a way, had zoro not proposed the fight, she may not have fallen and I'm sure he felt some guilt. The show even mentions how no one knew why she was going to sharpen it

I mean Shippuden has titles like “the death of *character name*” LOL which is fking wild. So sounds like same goes for OP and so sometimes it’s safer to not look. Also with Openings/Endings. Some shows show random cool scenes but other shows literally spoil the entire arc, level ups and all, in the Openings lol

People say 'don't watch the live action' because of one spoiler, but I say 'screw it'. That one reveal is a big deal, sure, but it doesn't make any difference story wise whether you find out about it now via the live action or in 300 episode in the anime. If it did matter Oda would not have allowed the live action show to have that reveal in it's first season. Obviously it's better for your anime experience if you get that reveal unspoiled, but its better for your live action experience if you get that reveal there and you won't have to wait another 18 months (until reach the 300s) to watch it. Imo, you can watch the live action after Nami's storyline finishes, no problem.

Maybe I have wrong memories, but there was a scene in anime with scar history. We will have soma flashbacks to his childhood in the time when he was meeting with Shanks. And If I am not wrong - one time this falshbacks will show us about scar

Scurvy was a really really nasty disease that seriously plauged long sailing journeys for a long long time. It was mainly a deficiency in vitamin C. Just making sure you had some fresh fruit would pretty much keep it away forever. As soon as people discovered the cause, proper planning in ships stores largely eliminated the issue. Although it was still extremely dangerous if you lost your way or were headed into uncharted waters. It's not just an illness that can happen at sea either, it's just far far less common for people on land to have such an unbalanced diet.

No, suicide is much more socially acceptable in Japan than in the West and is sometimes considered honourable, as in seppuku/harikiri. There's nothing in the anime or the manga to suggest suicide. It would make no sense anyway with the two of them making their promise, for her to just go off and kill herself.

Just pulling your leg a little to cheer myself up after the Zorro backstory 😭 I’m sure you understand. Zorro’s backstory is agony. Especially after her death when he throws himself into his training and he’s screaming with pain and frustration and anger while trying to disguise it as the effort of training. It feels like kid Zorro’s version of crying in the rain, you know? I try to get through it by imagining the VA roaring to himself in a sound booth but it still breaks me. By the way, Detective Flexie is a pretty good name for an anime… hmmm…. Let’s see: I’m picturing a ballerina having an “accident’ with a truck carrying nuclear waste and another hauling rubber trees… she wakes up with new powers and a burning desire to discover the truth behind her “accident”… yeah, it’s all coming together 🤓

Zoro's backstory was just a half chapter flashback in the manga right before he was going to be executed in Shells Town but I like how they beefed it up a little more in the anime. A fun backstory on Baratie, Oda actually worked at a high-end Japanese restaurant called "Baratei" that is still open today in Kumamoto. He shifted the letters to the name Baratie in One Piece so it would sound like a French restaurant. A lot of the antics that happen in the kitchen of Baratie are from real life experiences he had while working at Baratei.

If you wanna see how luffy's scar was made you can also check out "The East Blue episode" that has nearly two hours, the scene is nearly at the start, at 1:45 and last like 40 seconds, but be careful and don't watch the start of the episode!! Have fun with the journey ⛵️✨️🙌🏻!!
