Usopp's VA is Yamaguchi Kappei, and he's one of the most goated VA's around. In addition to Usopp, he's also L from Death Note, Inuyasha from Inuyasha, and Ranma from Ranma 1/2 . He was also Kechizu from JJK, the youngest of the three cursed womb brothers that Kugisaki killed at the end of season one. Actually the One Piece/JJK connections go kind of hard. To name a few, Esou (the second cursed womb brother), Chosou (the eldest) and Dagon (the ocean themed curse) are as yet unrevealed characters in One Piece (for those who know M3, EK and DM), but the mind-blowing one is that Mahito is Shanks. Practically all of the curses are from One Piece.

That’s an awesome approach to it. When I started I wasn’t ready for a slower pace and I kind of got frustrated watching the earlier episodes. It’s nice to take it in on your pace with 2 at a time for now and really try to absorb the story and characters this time around.

Your mentality towards this show is perfect for this show. This show takes it's time telling characters stories and doesn't rush anything which is kinda hard at the beginning for some people, I was one of those people who struggled getting into it with how slow it felt at the beginning.

The relationship between Usopp and Kaya is such a beautiful, wholesome thing. It really makes me happy when Usopp is sitting in the tree, telling his tall tales of pirate adventures on islands of goldfish poop 😂 Some younger people don’t like the pacing in these older episodes but I like the more laidback style. They’re going on a cruise and there will be adventure when they find it and then they’ll move on, always headed to a certain destination but in no rush cos they know they’ll get there some day. The anime reflects that idle pace and takes its time to properly introduce the characters so we can understand why Luffy wants each one and we are happy about them joining. I love it. I also love the faster paced, action packed episodes later on, but these have a cosy nostalgic feeling for me. I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

Yeah, Luffy quite literally "speaks his mind" ;D There isn't much inner-dialogue in the series as a whole, either. Which is a good thing, from a writing stand-point. It's often over-used by manga authors as a crutch to explain a characters emotional state or their reaction to a change in events. Oda does this instead with hyper-expressive artwork and great personality development.

I love the part where Usopp stands up for his dad. He's a pathological liar and frequently shows signs of cowardliness, but there's a line that he doesn't allow to be crossed where he will not back down and fight for the cause he believes in.
