While this is a direct transliteration of the English word "ambivalent", English speakers might not immediately recognize it. The title reflects the complex and conflicting emotions in the relationship between Jinshi and Maomao, capturing their dynamic of attraction and distance.

Last time you were saying you want to understand what Jinshi feels about Maomao and look what happened in that episode. This time you wanted to know about his relationship to the Emperor and they open with the first scene of Jinshi and the Emperor alone together. When they say a show is practically made for you… maybe they’d be right about this show lol

That would make him the Emperor’s (oldest and only) son, but because of the theorized swap, he’d have been raised as the Emperor’s brother. I don’t know if this is true, but it’s what Maomao theorized.

2025-02-16 21:28:33 +0000 UTCKind of half makes you wonder if Jinshi wanting Maomao to take the court lady exam was an excuse to raise her status ever so slightly closer to his to theoretically make it feasible for them to eventually be together (not that I know how high status a bride of a potential relative to the emperor would have to be for it not to cause issues).
