2025-02-17 13:53:22 +0000 UTCHe knows both Light and Misa are Kira 1 & 2. It's not something he suspects by this point, it's something he knows with certainty. That's not even debatable by this point in the story. So, in his mind he knows that Light had a plan in mind which is why he is completely in the right to not release him. Releasing the person of whom he knows with certainty is a mass murderer & wants to kill *him* (L) would be the dumbest possible action he could take. The only reason why he does it is because the police force basically forced him to do so, marking the first big moment they actually hindered his abilities. Torture isn't a morally right thing to do. But you know what else isn't? Mass murder. And L knows by this point that he got 2 mass murderers on his hand who both want to kill him. Sure, L isn't a morally righteous character. But his actions certainly aren't unjustified. [SPOILER] DO NOT READ THIS, FLEXIE!!! [Spoiler] [SPOILER] DO NOT READ THIS, FLEXIE!!! [Spoiler] ----!!!!!That's a huge difference between him and a certain other character later on in the show. Said character surrounds himself with capable people who don't doubt or hinder him. L surrounds himself with people who hinder him at every single chance they get. They are not nearly on his level which is a big issue for him and I would argue, it's probably his biggest issue in the long run. L is literally to smart and to far ahead for his own good.!!!!!----

2025-02-15 13:46:50 +0000 UTCTo me L and Kira are the same, any means are ok to achieve their goal, as long as it doesn't put themselve in too much trouble. Torture like L uses, isn't being "completely in the right", At some point it is even worse than death, which Misa confirmed by begging L to end her life instead of tormenting her. L stopped this only because it got to the breaking point (both for the prisonners and his coworkers) and he wouldn't be able to solve the case by continuing.

2025-02-15 10:16:02 +0000 UTCI'm just sad no body make anime episodes like this anymore.. i mean we got easy three episodes worth of material in this episode in today'sstandard.. Light getting out jail.. his father little stunt.. the reveal.. the plan forward and we even got a little glimps of what's happening outside of light/L little universe.. and all this without coming across as rushed.. this episode was packed!
deranged but not really
2025-02-12 21:16:45 +0000 UTCI would get brain microchipped just to experience the car execution scene like new again. How do you even write a more intense scene? SEE YOU IN HELL

2025-02-12 18:11:01 +0000 UTCeverybody got crazy ideas in this show honestly xD this was pretty fun :D also a blank from that distance would still hurt :P Light and L really are similar, both are willing to go to extremes to get what they want :) welp now they are closer than ever, what a fun relationship this promises to be :D its fascinating hearing what L makes of all this now :) what a contrast between Rem and Ryuk, she finds humans disgusting while Ryuk finds them interesting :D this has been quite a lot, take your time to digest and process it all :)

2025-02-12 17:14:50 +0000 UTCThis is not a spoiler because you just didn't catch this in the beginning, Rem was standing with the new Kira who was writing names in the Death Note and Rem makes a comment about all of this being part of Lights plan to save Misa. So yes, one of the people at the business table is Kira and everything is going according to light's plan. None of those are spoilers because this was all stated throughout the episode.

2025-02-12 14:48:04 +0000 UTCConsidering L is a detective going against 2 mystical serial killers, he hasn't lost it at all, I would even say he was pretty reasonable with his measures, I mean, his challenge are 2 twisted mind randoms with god-like powers. I think is easy to forget how surreal the situation is but, for all L knows, tomorrow he could be dealing with a vampire running for president, wouldn't be that surprising or even concerning at this point.

2025-02-12 14:20:40 +0000 UTCSo, I'm just gonna throw out a single hypothetical question: A few episodes ago when Light first came into contact with Misa he asked her to ask Rem to kill L for her (and him, obviously). Rem agreed to do so. If the battle between Light and L endet right there, wouldn't that be the most anticlimactic and disappointing ending? L does keep them confined for this long because he is 100% sure that Light is Kira and that Light does have some kind of plan (keep in mind that Light himself asked to be locked up). Letting Light go would potentially allow him to succeed at said plan which is what L wants to avoid. Sure, what he does to Light & Misa might seem cruel, but he literally found her hair and fingerprints on Kira 2's tapes. And again, he *knows* Light is Kira because he is so far ahead of everybody within the police force & because both of them have already communicated in ways only Kira and L would understand. He *knows* letting Light go wouldn't be good for him because that's most likely what Light had planned beforehand. So, this situation might seem outrages but L is completely in the right. And about Lights father...well, he himself asked to be put into this situation and L offers him frequently to leave. Lights father is not locked up because L wants this but because he himself decided this for himself. So, in short, yes. L is 1000% focused in on Light because he literally knows that Light is Kira. And that is correct. Lights plan isn't trying to convince L of his innocence because Light knew from the get-go that wouldn't work. I also think during this episode we truly see that the task force is a huge disadvantage on L's side. They are hindering his abilities more so than they actually help him. One thing I absolutely love about these episodes is how pure Light looks without the corruption of the Death Note infecting him. It just showcases how his mind basically broke after the first 2 test-killings he did with it. By that point he needed to continue on this journey because otherwise...well, otherwise he would've to consider himself a murderer. And at that point the only escape he had from his own sense of guilt was to embrace this newfound power.
