Perfect writing. Kakashi says useless things like emotions should be discarded while on a mission. He still keeps his father's blade. While the blade is useful, it's not just a powerful weapon, it also represents his father's memory and the pain of losing him. So Kakashi, by his logic, should've discarded the blade. It shows his hypocrisy. Kinda. When the blade shatters he truly "discards" something useless. He moves past his pain. With the "useless" pain discarded, he becomes stronger with a new chakra blade, that being the Lightning Blade. Even though the Sharingan he receives also comes with emotional baggage, he integrated that "useless" thing to himself. He grows up and becomes stronger.

2024-09-01 22:55:09 +0000 UTCThe reason a lot of people probably wanted you to watch these episodes before starting Shippuden is because These two episodes were actually how the Shippuden story line started in the Manga. They re-arranged the story for the anime for some reason and many fans believe that the story flows much better if you watch it in the original order. For example when Kakashi has that little speach with Sasuke that you referenced you would have already seen this and would know what Kakashi had been referring to. Personally, I don't care either way the story's told it's good, even if there are some things that flow better te other way. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I do think the placement in the manga though did work as a nice little palate cleanser after the madness that was the end of part 1 lol and giving us something during the break to prime us for part 2 to begin.

2024-08-30 13:25:22 +0000 UTCwhat an impactful couple of episodes, they did an amazing job with this :) we have spent very little time with Obito but they made sure we see just how important he was, he helped form Kakashi as a person, even helped him perfect the Chidori thanks to his Sharingan :) we finally learned more about his father, the legendary White Fang, these kids all had such tragic pasts and rough lives, big respect to Kakashi for holding it together and being the person that he is today :) a little glimpse of the Yellow Flash as well he was super cool :D
