Frieren Beyond Journey's End Ep4 (Early Uncut Access)

Episode 4 | The Land Where Souls Rest

Frieren Beyond Journey's End Ep4 (Early Uncut Access)

Comments

Frieren may see humans as sentient hamsters given their cute but short life of less than 2 years. would you really take the time to get to know a sentient hamster since you already knew hundred thousand of them before?

Anal Farmer1

I think Himmel may have said that Frieren would enjoy seeing the sunrise is because he believed she was the kind of person to enjoy seeing other people happy. She loved seeing Fern happy. At least that's what I believe.

Stefan Stojanovic

Yea I cried a ton on my first watch, some bits still get me and I still catch new things here and there

Those people adventure together for more time than a lot of people stay married, or work at a single job. It's no wonder you would form bonds that endure through the ages. The idea of just signing up for a decade long quest is just mind boggling.

There's a word "Aay'han" from the Mandalorian language in Star Wars. It doesn't have a direct translation, it means the warm feeling you get while being surrounded by friends and family, but also the bittersweet melancholy of remembering those that aren't around anymore. It's a moment that captures both the joy of life, and the mourning of death all in one. I always thought it was a beautiful idea, and the music from this show gives me that same feeling.

Alex Hencher

I cried more during this anime than any other I’ve seen. Pure beauty and pain of life.

Evan Call wrote the OST. And as a score, it somehow captures the themes of life, existence, the joys, the sorrows, and the passage of time, with a heaping helping of folksy fantasy flavor. I think that's 50% of the reason I get choked up. It's because the music is dense with emotional information on top of the already emotional story and stunning visuals. Like just listen to that proud, noble, majestic swell of the horns and the string sections during that short clip of them approaching the demon's castle at 25:37. And that violin that cuts through to the top of the mix. It's so short and simple as musical choice, but set against the struggle to the summit of a mountain, it's magnificent! sidenote: tin-whistles as an instrument are perfect for piercing through the mix of an orchestra, while not being shrill, and still managing to have fluidity in its melody. That's why episode 1's "They're beautiful." scene stabbed me in the heart.

You are OK. We all cried this much. There's nothing wrong with you :)

Milosz Skowronski

Technically all those names are German, so perhaps "Feahn" would be more appropriate :D

I cried so much during this show, and I read the manga so I knew what I was getting into. It's not melodrama, and it doesn't use cheap emotional manipulation to make you cry through shocking character deaths like so many shows do. It's a slow burn that takes it's time, and does such a good job of establishing and making you care about these characters. Heck, Himmel is literally almost exclusively shown in flashbacks, and he's one of the best characters in all of anime. This show is brilliant,

Dorin Mosk

frieren used her spell again to make grapes sour for Eisen. I love these little details

Dinkleberg

I’ve had plenty of continuous tears throughout this amazing story. I think many people can easily empathize as the themes it explores are so fundamental to human nature. It’s also tragic, beautiful, and bitter sweet, all conveyed with underlying feelings of gentleness, warmth, and hopefulness. I’m excited for you to experience the rest of this journey!

Russell Gambardella

Brace yourself because the real tears are yet to come …

MishkaTho

lol crying excessively is in the lyrics so you’re fine

Serg

Her name is Fern. It is intended to be pronounced the English way it just uses syllables that aren’t really seen in Japanese. Similar to Himmel.

Timbeaux

We cry every episode, it's all good lol. Show just stirs the emotions up like no other.

Vaxus335

Don’t worry Fern is correct

Jairo Rodas

if you need help with the pronunciation .. all the names are normal german words —> flamme = flame, fern = far or distant, eisen = iron, frieren = be cold etc.

Timo Schulte

For whatever reason, seeing 'fern' and hearing 'ferun' from the audio has me pronouncing her name as they say it lol And yay, I finally caught up! Yes I cried, pretty much for like 5 or 6 episodes straight. Still creeps up in later eps too, so I suggest tissues! :3

Melley Cat

Those onion ninjas are 4 for 4 so far 😂 Don’t worry, they got all of us too. And don’t sweat the pronunciations, our dumb American tongues can only handle so much! Go with what’s easiest.

Jordan Landry

When Frieren told Fern she wouldn’t have been able to see the sunrise without her, it was more like appreciate it. Because Fern was smiling, it made Frieren’s experience better than if she was alone.

Plushxi

You've hit on a lot of emotional moments/shows lately (JJK season 2, Frieren, and you've started to know Pain in Shippuden).

PearseNation

this show is gonna make flexie cry at every episode and i'm here for it !

Victor Vrignaud

I could probably count on 1 hand how many episodes of other shows have made me cry, rarely gets to me. But Frieren gets me every time without fail, it's just so emotional

Ashley Twigg

Frieren is such a special story because despite the show being about a mythical elf woman in a fantasy world, the themes and messages are so deeply rooted in real life. This show altered my perspective on a lot of things in life. It made me want to treasure my friends and family even more than I already do. It shows us that there's beauty and value in things that aren't permanent, and its their lack of permanence that gives it that beauty. I cried a lot in these first 4 episodes too.

Jeff

There are shows designed to hurt, and shows designed to heal. This is the latter, it's a beautiful sadness.

Jake Thompson

I really dont cry often at all but this show literally made me cry so much, i didnt understand it either

Ian

to answer your question, yes I believe almost all of us cried that much. This story is just amazing.

Charles Fine

I always sort of say "Furen" with a rolled R sound for Fern, but that's probably the closest my American tongue can get to her name 😂
