funnily enough, creature with Drill arms was a thing in "This Ugly yet Beautiful World" where the transformed main character turns his hand into a bio-drill before he decides not to use it (and it never happens again). It wasn't a very good TV series, but that's what came to mind. Getter Robo and Gurren Lagann also come to mind. Oh yeah, this sequence would look really cool if animated.
