I have such mixed feeling on this episode as a whole. One on hand we finally got the the mystery of Leela's origin and her parents. and i absolutely loved the ending. but on the other i hated how they just reveal her parent in the in the beginning and not build up to as a reveal. especially since they had build this up for 4 seasons! and you just reveal them out of nowhere! like wtf. it would have meant so much more had they kept things a secret until the end. similar to what we got in the luck of the fryish episode with Yancy. And it's not like they couldn't have this show is very good and giving misdirections. I really wanted that build of finding out they were leela's parents along say Leela. It would have been so much more impact. I get what they were trying to do. but I would have rather had the the reveal of her parent be near the end than the beginning. But with all that in mind still i did enjoy this episode overall. that ending always gets me.

I believe it’s in “I Second That Emotion”, when Bender flushes Nibbler down the toilet and we first meet the mutant community. In one of the crowd shots, you can spot Leela’s parents subtly in the background. This is exactly why I prefer Futurama over other animated comedies it has genuinely emotional episodes and meaningful storytelling. There’s always something new to discover or appreciate, even on rewatch.
