2024-06-23 13:57:59 +0000 UTCYes Sherlock was the first ever hybrid song in kpop of 2 other songs Clue + Note combined, but this particular version is also a bit different from the studio recording. It's one thing seeing a singular performance which in case of this Sherlock one is still amazing, but it's way better to watch their concerts in sets/segments as they perform 4-5 songs back to back and the more intensive sets are crazy, definitely haven't seen any other group perform that many physically challenging numbers in a row while still sounding so good, maintaining so much energy and doing it in such an emotional and passionate way. For me that's what sets SHINee apart. You missed out on the opportunity to see perhaps the most legendary set which is the opener to SHINee World IV concert that starts with this Sherlock stage. I would still recommend continuing with it (Shine, Stranger, Picasso) or rewatching the whole segment as linked by Ofra. And mind you their concerts usually last like 3 hours, so there are multiple sets like that in one concert. Of course mixed in with a more laid back segments of slower songs and beautiful ballads that are just as amazing but in a different way.

2024-06-23 09:51:35 +0000 UTCI understand that because you've seen more EXO content it's inevitable to draw comparisons but with all due respect to them it's more so the other way around - some EXO performances can rival SHINee's. Yeah their vocals are great but I haven't seen many performances that are on the same level in terms of energy, stage presence and charisma or passion that SHINee has night in and night out and I watched a lot of content. I got a chance to attend both group concerts years ago in 2018 and I wasn't even as SHINee biased as I am right now haha because I was still sort of new'ish to Kpop back then, but SHINee's concert definitely left a bigger impact on me which was a major reason solidifying me into a Shawol that I am now. Their concerts look impressive on tape but it's a whole different experience actually seeing them live. As you said, there's no liabilities within the group, all members are super talented musicians and strong passionate performers on their own, you'll see it once you get into their solos! In terms of being able to sing while dancing and yet sound so stable is a result of years of training, SHINee would literally be practicing singing while running. No one does it like that anymore, that's why 2nd gen and early 3rd gen hits different.

2024-06-23 00:00:47 +0000 UTCThis performance of Sherlock was the first song in a 4 songs long Opening set for the concert and the entire set is ICONIC (https://youtu.be/BGul2ZAAwFE). this version is actually a re-mix of the 2 songs Clue and Note, o this isn't the same as the official version. The outfits were designed by Key. SHINee are the standard in k-pop for live performances. and I'm not even joking, it's known as "The SHINee standard". whenever SHINee had a rehearsal, since their debut onward, every idol nearby, whether it be a senior or junior idol, will drop whatever they were doing (if they could, of course) and come to watch. even a week or so ago, SHINee performed in a festival with a few other idol groups and people heard the staff in awe over SHINee's rehearsal and how HARD they went for it. They never give anything lass than 525%. Exo learned that from them, SHINee took them and NCT under their wing (even if some of EXO are actually older than the SHINee members... especially Taemin...), But as good as EXO are live, even THEY don't come close to SHINee's reputation for live performances... Honestly? and I'm not even saying this because I'm a Shawol, No one in k-pop comes close to SHINee's reputation for live performances. SHINee concerts are something special, I've never seen anything quite like it, not in k-pop and not in the west... it's a unique experience. About the singing technique, you're right, singing while dancing requires a completely different technique. When Taemin came on as a mentor on NCT Wish's reality show he watched them perform SHINee's Lucifer, and one of the things he told them was that their technique for standing still and singing is good, but to dance and sing is a different technique and they need to work on it more to be able to sing as well while dancing. And seeing as he has some of the most difficult choreo in k-pop. both as part of SHINee and as a soloist. and he performs them while singing live perfectly, I'd trust that he knows what he's talking about.... about them not having as many comebacks lately, part f it IS because they all have their solo careers as well, but most of it was because they want throw 2 military hiatuses, the first was from the middle of 2018 to the start of 2021 for Onew, Key and Minho, then they had 2 Korean comebacks and one Japanese comeback in lass than half a year and then in May 2021 they went onto the second hiatus for Taemin, this one was 2 years long. 2 months after he was out they had another comeback only for them to go on ANOTHER hiatus for almost a year for Onew's health (the remaining 3 still promoted as SHINee for that year and had a concert tour in Asia, but they wouldn't release any new songs without him). now that they are FINALY all together again (supporting their brand new friendship/marriage rings...) Taemin said that they've been working on a new album. and they've all been dropping hints...
