Q.: Did you ever have an idea that you just didn’t want to draw?
A.: Quite often, actually! I have strengths and weaknesses as an artist, and I have a very natural tendency to try to avoid my areas of weakness. One example is mechanical stuff. I despise drawing mech. And you may have noticed that there are very few characters who have mech-based character designs.
Of course, every once in a while the story requires it, and I have to buckle down and do the best I can. Like this panel, for example.

Since switching to a drawing software called Clip Studio Paint, I’ve been able to use 3D models that make drawing mech much easier. So I can do it when I need to. But it’s not my favorite thing to do.
Have I ever just changed the idea just because I didn’t want to draw the scene? That depends on how important the scene is. Take bicycles. They’re notoriously difficult to draw well. If the scene I need to draw simply requires a bike, then I draw it. (Like the panel below.) If the scene is just as strong bike-less, then bike-less it shall be! The same goes for horses.

I just hope none of my future story ideas involve a robot racing a horse while riding a bike. I’m not sure what I would do!
If you have a question for me, feel free to...
