I’d love a romance. Indecent Proposal kinda gives a bit of thriller vibes and has Demi Moore but GHOST has some scary elements while being romantic and hilarious YOU IN DANGER GIRL

2026-01-31 13:48:00 +0000 UTCThrowing out ANOTHER recommendation for a future horror series: SWARM. It's a thinly-veiled horror / comedy (strangely the first episode doesn't contain much dark humor and suggests you are in for something bleaker than what proceeds from there) series about rumors of some of Beyonce's BeyHive (or, an obsessed, Houston-based fan goes to increasingly violent lengths for her favorite R&B singer). Donald Glover is behind it. And the leading lady, Dominique Fishback puts in a STUNNING performance as the pop star's "#1 fan." Billie Eilish also stars.

2026-01-31 12:27:38 +0000 UTCHuge, hearty recommendation for DINNER IN AMERICA as a future non-horror, unconventional romance / comedy (An on-the-lam punk rocker and a young woman obsessed with his band go on an unexpected and epic journey together through the decaying suburbs of the American Midwest). "A movie with anti-establishment / anti-social quicksilver coursing through its veins, but at its heart it is a sweet love story, one of the sweetest in recent memory." It's a thousand-percent excellent, my god it's so good, and stars horror's most lovable scream king Kyle Gallner. It was released RIGHT at the beginning of the pandemic and got lost in the clusterfuck of THAT mess. BUT, the people who DID catch it would not let it be forgotten and slowly word of mouth spread in film communities leading to it getting revival screenings around the country just last year which Gallner and various other people involved in the film attended.

2026-01-31 08:30:46 +0000 UTCLots of good suggestions here already (Nosferatu, Heart Eyes, Companion, Strange Darling, etc.), so I'll throw in some ones I don't see anyone suggesting. Drop (2025) is more of a mystery/thriller, but it's about a woman on a first date so it fits the theme, and it's from Christopher Landon who directed Freaky and the Happy Death Day movies. Fresh (2022) stars Sebastian Stan and Daisy Edgar-Jones, and it deals with the horrors of modern dating, but I'd recommend going in as blind as possible. Cherry Falls isn't a romance, but it's a post-Scream slasher that fits the general theme. Speak No Evil (2024) isn't a romance, but it deals with two couples and is therefore loosely adjacent to this theme. Other suggestions I'll throw out there include F Marry Kill, Shaun of the Dead, Heavenly Creatures, and Spontaneous.
