Can I get an amen? I couldn't agree more with these observations.

I really, really despise the current convention of streaming services cutting into the end credits to push something else on you immediately. The end credits are part of the film! Even if there's no post-credits business to watch, I always watch them through to the end. Sometimes it's a matter of staying in the world of the film for a few more minutes, easing yourself back to reality, and enjoying the music. Sometimes there are interesting little nuggets of info in the credits and it's nice to appreciate just how many different roles there are in bringing a movie to the screen. Streamers squeezing credits out under the assumption that nobody will care and just to try and hook people into the next thing is an act of cultural vandalism.
A couple of weeks back I attended a screening of Sally Potter's 1997 film The Tango Lesson, beautifully shot by the great Robby Müller, and as I watched the end credits I noticed that Robby's trainee on that shoot was a young man by the name of Hoyte van Hoytema! I love those kinds of discoveries.
