Glad you liked it. Does have a sense of mystery, as you noted. This my 2nd watch. I like it. I like the Sean Connery Bond demeanor. “She had her kicks.” SPECTRE didn’t count on love. I notice that Grant is Quint from Jaws. We had a 24-hour layover in Istanbul one time. I was never into Bond movies, but now I like what I’ve seen – below is a list of when I did a first full watch of every Bond movie I have seen. From Russia with Love (1963) is one of my favorites. 2006 Casino Royale (2006) 2012 Skyfall (2012) 2023-2024 From Russia with Love (1963) Goldfinger (1964) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) Live and Let Die (1973) The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) The Living Daylights (1987) Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) Quantum of Solace (2008) Spectre (2015) No Time to Die (2021)

Just love this film. Fantastic spy plot that's so well written by Richard Maibaum and Johanna Harwood. Of course based on the book by Ian Fleming. John F. Kennedy listed Ian Fleming's book as among his top ten favorite novels of all time. Superb score by John Barry and the great theme song sung by the legend Matt Monro. Great sets and filming locations. Some great shots in this too. Edited by Peter Hunt who edited the first five. He later directed On Her Majesty's Secret Service with George Lazemby. Terence Young really got the series going with the first two and then Thunderball. Many people think of Arnie when they think of one-liners, but Bond was there first. Many great one-liners to go especially with Roger Moore. You're going to enjoy great scores, spectacular stunts and fantastic sets in the future Ames. The scene in which James Bond and Tatiana Romanova first meet in the hotel suite has since been used as an audition scene for potential Bond actors and Bond girls. The helicopter carrying director Terence Young during filming crashed over water, trapping him below the surface for a considerable time in an air bubble inside the copter's canopy. He was rescued, and then immediately went back behind the camera with his arm in a sling. Producer Harry Saltzman considered replacing him with Sir David Lean, but producer Albert R. Broccoli insisted that Young finish the movie. Whenever I watch this film I always feel a bit sad because of Pedro Armendáriz. He was terminally ill when filming this movie and they prioritized his scenes so he could finish as quickly as possible. Armendáriz got exposed to nuclear waste when filming The Conqueror in the Utah desert near a U.S. nuclear test site as did the other stars of the movie like John Wayne and Susan Hayward. He wanted to do this film so his family could get one more paycheck. You can see him limping in some scenes. Ali Kerim Bay is definitely one of my favorite Bond sidekicks and absolutely my favorite proponent of big families. How many sons does the guy have? Bay is just such a fantastic character with great lines and great rapport with Bond. You're going to get to see his son Pedro Armendáriz Jr. when you get to Licence to Kill. Daniela Bianchi ddin't do many films, but I think she does a fine job for her first film at age 21. She was dubbed by Barbara Jefford due to her really thick accent. Bianchi was Miss Universo Italia 1960 and first runner-up at the 1960 Miss Universe pageant, In the gunbarrel sequence it's still stuntman Bob Simmons. Connery will do it for the first time in Thunderball. The train fight is one of the best in the series and it was done by Connery and Shaw themselves. Shaw really makes every movie he is in so much better. He died far too young. It's indeed the Orient Express Ames and Belgrad was of course the capital of Yugoslavia at the time.
