Supposedly, Mr. T went to the premiere with his mother. During the scene when Clubber is talking to Adrian about being with a “real man”, Mr. T’s mother looked at him with disbelief and walked out of the theater. She said, “I never raised my son to talk to a woman like that!” He went after her and tried to explain, but she was having none of it.

It might be impossible to NOT know that :-) , but I'll explicitly mention the name of the band: Survivor.

Stallone originally wanted to use Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" but they refused. Another song that was pitched was "You're The Best" written by Rocky composer Bill Conti, and performed by Joe Esposito. That was rejected, but later used for The Karate Kid.
Stallone got hold of a band he heard from Chicago and asked them to write a song for the film- something with a 'pulse', like the Queen song. Thus, "Eye of the Tiger" was born.
The band's founder, Jim Peterik already had several hit songs under his belt- "Vehicle" by the Ides of March, and 3 songs co-written for .38 Special. "Rockin' Into The Night", "Hold On Loosely" and "Caught Up In You".
