I had heard good things about the movie and already had a good impression of those 3 actors, especially Jimmy Stewart -- but also liked Cary Grant in North by Northwest and Katherine Hepburn in Bringing up Baby. Yet, when I went in for this first watch (along with your reaction), I was unsure because I typically don't favor movies quite this old. But the acting/charisma of that trio is stunning, and ended up loving the movie.
