Fiona and Esteban [Canon]

One of the things I have been doing lately is going through a folder I have on my computer where I have saved interesting pics and poses that I wanted to use as reference later. This was one from that reference folder.

And since Fiona really gets around, I thought it made sense that this pic would also be Canon.

Albo's Charlie

I wanted to try to draw some other artist's OCs a bit this week. Albo has drawn so many of my characters, I thought I'd give his character Charlie a shot. I wanted to try both a cartoony version like he does in his comic strips as well as one that's a bit closer to my normal style. And hopefully add a little humor in there as well.

I wanted to play around with some silhouette stuff so I was trying to think of characters of mine who had very strong silhouettes that would read very clearly without the detail work. I settled on Randi, Harold and Daisy being some of the characters who would come across clearly in silhouette form.

I felt like this would easily be a Canon pin-up since these characters have already hooked up in the comics. Also, I thought I'd include George in there getting an eyeful.

Continuing the comic break

I have decided that I am going to continue with my break from long form comics for a little while longer. My shoulder has recovered and overall I'm feeling much better, but I am really enjoying the more relaxed nature of simply drawing whatever I feel like as inspiration strikes.

So, because of that I think I am going to continue this period of free form drawing a few pieces each week with no strict schedule involved for at least a couple more weeks, possibly for the rest of April.

March Suggestion Box sketches

Willow - St. Patrick's Day alternate

Because I guess I felt like I didn't already have enough alternate versions of the Willow WOTM pic, I also decided to make a St. Patrick's Day alternate. I know I missed the holiday by a bit, but maybe you all won't mind.

Twin Moons and the Sheriff [Canon]

Another pic that started with a reference photo. I thought it would be nice to draw Twin Moons for this one. I debated on the guy, potentially doing a crossover with another comic, but in the end I thought I'd use the sheriff that Darlene was daydreaming about waaaay back in issue 1 of Double D Ranch. And since I decided on not doing a crossover it made sense for this one to be a canon pin-up.

Livvy's new toy [Canon]

I found a reference pic I liked a lot and wanted to draw that I felt was perfect for Olivia. I ended up deciding to go with the younger "Livvy" version before she was married to Martin. This felt like it made sense as another Canon pin-up. I only tagged the first one as canon, mainly because my brain was like "would she be changing clothes during this?" But really any version of this could easily have been considered the canon version.

Meiling in the curtains

I did a lot of experimenting with this one. Trying different ideas for what levels of shadow and transparency I wanted on the curtains. My main goal was an attempt to do a lineless soft and hazy look for the body as it is seen through the curtain.
