Love it!!

This movie is so amazing. I have so much respect for Stalone, writing a movie just because no other writers were writing parts for him. It must have been over 25 years since I've seen Rocky and everything about it screams masterpiece of realism. The sets, the cast, the costumes, script... it's all so realistic. The way he and Adrian get together... I just love this movie! 😇

For myself I consider this movie to be one of thee greatest of all time for many reasons. The music! The love story! For some of us we say: "Yo Adrian" because we love Adrian, the story everything, but most of all we connect with Rocky and we want to find our Adrian! Another thing is I grew up watching boxing matches of the Greats on broadcast tv from the mid 60's on a 19' Black and White vacuum tube tv! We never got to see action like this in any movie 'we' saw up to this point! Including the big silver screen. I'm not sure but I think this one is thee first to use a training montage in it; though I'm not sure! Least I get into the whole "US Bicentennial!" I learned this thing early on, growing up in the 60's - that very few people will 'openly' call you 'kid.' There has to be a connection between (usually an older man/person) the two that will allow them the 'freedom' to call you kid as Mickey does with Rocky. The older person has to respect you or like you or something, there has to be a connection. My uncle called me Kid, then 'Best Boy!' lol Mr Montoya used to call me kid; and we weren't even related - but our families did get a long! And we had relatives living half the block down our street, those were the only two that called me "kid." Looking back - I think Mr Montoya did so because I helped him with his garden, do odds and ends around the place, sat and talked with him, etc.; whereas everyone else had reasons to 'go off' and do their thing. My Uncle transitioned away after he had his first son. Mickey also calls Rocky a tomato and then says: "I run a business not a soup kitchen." I've always interpreted that as: I've given you the locker free of charge, but then you became a leg breaker. The first show down with Rocky in the gym... Generally 'we' don't speak loudly for anyone else to hear such 'bad stuff.' Because it's a 'personal' thing; it's beyond being 'rude' to someone and it should be just between 'the two of you.' But Rocky pushes... And Mickey finally says: "It's a waste of life." Usage of the word: "Bum" is another one... You don't call anyone a bum because: "Them's fighting words!" We generally don't sling words around like it's been for generations now. Words have meaning and impact upon us. When we do something we give it our all - or we don't do it period! "Its all or nothing!" We don't have a "A game" because that implies that you have a 'B game.' And if you have a 'B game' then that means you're not giving it your all. As @EOM said: "You don't get that mad at someone you don't care about." And that's for that first fight between Rocky and Mickey. What I've found interesting @Ames is that you seem to know a lot this innately, understand a lot of things most don't even notice. But to look at you - you seem to not be a day over 30 at most! But then I've also noticed that a lot of 'non-American' people and reactors are also this way! Even though they are not of the Baby Boomer nor previous generations and that's puzzling except for the fact that 'they' grew up in a different environment than 'here.' @MovieswithMary and @MovieDateWithKate and many others are like this. But most of all I loved this reaction!!! You've linked me to the movie and you with your reactions! I'm also happy that I won this wheel! But what I truly love is that you've had a great time watching it! If others haven't said it yet - "Rocky II" (1979) is way, way better!!! With this movie I went back to watch it 3 times after me and my friends watched it! lol Thank you and "Team @Ames" for a great time!
