Sunrise (1927) watch along
Added 2024-12-14 19:30:02 +0000 UTCHappy AFI Saturday!
Sunrise (1927), ranked #82 on AFI's list, is seriously impressive for being so old! The actors totally nailed their roles, and whoever was behind the camera really knew what they were doing - they came up with some pretty cool shots that were way ahead of their time. I loved the transitions and the superimposed layered shots. Sure, I had some small issues with how some of the characters' stories played out, but the overall plot still works well. There are so many great scenes throughout, and I bet this movie was a huge deal when it hit theatres back in 1927...that movie magic kinda stuff!

2024-12-16 17:32:14 +0000 UTCThis was a first time watch for me and I really enjoyed it. I am glad we are getting more silent movies on the channel. I agreed when you said the storytelling is so patient. The set dec and technical aspects of how this film was made are still impressive almost a hundred years later.

2024-12-16 14:21:46 +0000 UTCIβm not going to apologize- thatβs the Canadian thing to do! LOL but, I think is clear I really appreciated this movie, even if I joked around a bit about some of the plot. At the end of the day, the story of redemption and forgiveness really stood out to meβ¦it was beautifully told and wonderfully crafted, especially considering itβs from 1927! Those actors were incredible!
