The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) Watch along

Here we go again!! The timer and blurred box SHOULD be good! and video looked like it rendered with now freeze - let me know! LMAO

I absolutely loved this movie! It completely captivated me. I was so mesmerized by the film that I didn't even comment on the breathtaking cinematography during Suzie's piano performance-just wow! Michelle Pfeiffer was beyond incredible; her performance had me in awe the entire time.

And can we talk about the chemistry between Jeff and Beau Bridges? I had no idea they were actually brothers in real life! That revelation makes their dynamic on screen even more compelling, and you can really feel the authenticity in their interactions. Their performances were so convincing as siblings that it added an extra layer of depth to the story.

This movie s is a gem!!!! It blended tender, intimate moments with outstanding performances. The dialogue is sharp and engaging, bringing out the complex relationships and emotions that drive the film. It's no wonder this movie is so highly regarded-it's a masterclass in acting, storytelling, character development, and sheer cinematic artistry. It was really a cathartic experience for me. And I wish I could be eloquent in a reaction as I feel I am when doing a write up. But that's the biz!😂

Let me know your thoughts below!

Enjoy!!

This could easily have been a 70s movie (and in a way, it is! The 80s, to their credit, were filled with movies like this, it wasn't a total sell-out yet! lol). Didn't know the story of Kloves.....so you're saying he wrote all the Harry Potter movies? Isn't that how this channel started?!! It's all come full circle for Steve! :P

Had day from hell!!!!! Going to finish this one up now/tonight! Right now, I'm on Team Beau! This guy's just trying to do a gig! Who needs two piano players, especially when one has a bad attitude? He could work alone and make more money! :P

I totally agree with you about these never being made anymore and it’s a crime. I don’t think I said that but I felt that while watching the credits

Wonderful movie, and superb reaction! Really, that was a ton of fun. One of the great movies about brotherhood. Watching this movie again for the first time in years, i was really struck by he reality that not only does Hollywood not make this type of movie anymore, it's kinda hard to believe they ever did. Loosely plotted character studies as vehicles for stars were still commonplace in the late 80s but have now been extinct so long even people who lived through such an era of filmmaking have nearly forgotten. The evolution of this can be seen just in the career of Steve Kloves, the writer-director of this movie. He did this (his directorial debut) to rave reviews while also performing relatively well financially. Next, he writes and directs his second movie, “Flesh and Bone”, 4 years later--to mixed reviews and little box office and he never directs another movie again. He does however continue to write (all of the Harry Potter movies) and produce (all of the Fantastic Beasts series), not to mention untold numbers of lucrative but uncredited script doctoring on other movies. He’s doubtlessly a very rich man, but no more character studies from him, or anyone, that’s for sure. Pity that.
