Everything you have just stated in incorrect.

The movie is inaccurate. The report by the House Intelligence Committee (led by Chairman Mike Rogers) said there was no stand-down order given. Rep. Tammy Duckworth, who lost both of her legs while serving in Iraq, stated: “Committee, after committee, after committee has found that there was no stand-down order,” noting that Gen. Petraeus testified the same. "[T]hree different committees have looked at this and have never found any evidence of any type of a stand-down order — period. There just wasn’t one.” As for air support, according to the House Armed Services report, the planes in Italy "were configured for training flights." None of them, the report found, were ready to fly a combat mission. Getting them ready couldn't have been accomplished until after the attack was over. The clear implication in the movie is that air support could have saved two lives but was held up by bureaucratic incompetence. "I called for air support," the officer says, stunned. "They never came." That is, without a doubt, 100 percent made up. The House Armed Services report found that "the Department of Defense had no armed drones or manned aircraft prepared for combat readily available and nearby on September 11 [when the attack occurred]." In the movie, the contractors say that even an unarmed overflight could have saved them by putting "the fear of God" in the attackers. After surveying expert judgment, the House report came to the opposite conclusion: "Even if such planes could have been dispatched in a timely manner, it would have been extraordinarily difficult for pilots (even with night vision capability) to identify and overfly attackers in very low light." The report also stated: "The Benghazi attackers demonstrated that they were the sort of experienced fighters ... less fearful of an unarmed overflight."

Amalia Wolf

Tell me your a time waster without telling me. ‘Sitting here waiting for another WOW today and then realizing it’s not scheduled until tomorrow.’

Catchermag

❤️❤️❤️ it’s so sad. But these men honestly I would want them protecting me. True hero’s

Outside of the silly convo we’re having about Michael Bay, I want to say that Benghazi is a dark chapter in our involvement in MENA, and the men involved in defending the consulate were heroes. It’s unfortunate that the tragedy was used by some as a political wedge and poker chip in an already divided country. The use of the word as a political dog whistle seems to be more important than the actual events, and that’s a discredit to the people this movie wants to honor. Thank you to the person that nominated this movie, I fully respect the reasoning behind it, and thank you to Ames for watching it!

Pearl Harbor is the herpes of Michael Bay movies. When it first flared up it was horrible, and even though time has passed, you still know it’s lurking out there and will never go away.

Really looking forward to watching this reaction tonight! This movie is phenomenal and so powerful in showing what these heroes had to endure.

David Crabtree

I cant bring myself to watch it. I suffer from Michael Bay syndrome. I automatically break out in hives whenever his name is mentioned. I never recovered after Pearl Harbor..

RFK Fan

Amalia Wolf
