July Story Poll Results!

First off...ow! Enough of you split your votes this time that the math by the end of everything made my eyes cross T-T. Second off, the difference between My Hero Automata and Why Was There No Truck?! is somewhat instructive to how much the vote weighing actually does matter. They got the same number of votes (18 each), but a significantly larger number of the higher tier voters voted for Automata, resulting in a 30+ point difference in their final tallies. Just an interesting note there, if anyone was curious how much the vote weighing actually matters :-p.

Now, for the actual results!

Harry Potter: Pandora's Box: 97.67 + (70% Boost) = 166.039

My Hero Automata: 82.67

A Very Confused Pokemon Adventure: 79.5 + (30% Boost) = 103.35

Whew! So, this one was apparently inevitable, given that Pandora's Box actually would have won even if I stripped the boosts out entirely. That said, even if I'm a little sad about Automata, I think I'm actually fairly happy with the result here. This was a much more balanced poll without Halfway Broken around to try and dominate it. Ignoring the boosts, three of the stories were within a twenty point spread. Which I think indicates we're going to start seeing significantly more fluctuation, month-to-month, on which story wins the poll.

I'm also fairly pleased that Automata did hold it's own. So hopefully it won't languish for too long without an update. Why Was There No Truck was a pleasant surprise, as well. Given it's currently one of the shortest fics, with exactly two releases so far, and it hasn't been publicly posted anywhere yet...it did remarkably well. I think I'll likely bite the bullet today and post the first release of it out to the various public sites (Fanfiction.net, ScribbleHub, and Questionable Questing). I was a little reluctant to do so at first, given it's the first SI fic I've ever published (even if Alyssa diverged from me pretty significantly due to various factors, she still started as an SI). But it's general popularity seems to indicate people don't hate that, so I ought to let more people see it, I suppose.

Anyways! Harry Potter: Pandora's Box will be getting an update in July! Don't despair if that wasn't you're first choice! It's getting an update will cause it to loose it's boost next month, after all. Since both Pokémon Adventure and Eridium Dreams will have their own boosts, it will face stiff competition all around if it wants to pull off back-to-back wins ;-)!
