The making of Moxxi

As I get other content prepped and prepare to move to my own apartment (woo!!) here’s some work-in-progress of my Moxxi! Now I understand that this cosplay is not superb or perfect — I especially struggle with visual aspects like painting. But the more I learn about my blindness the more I realize I am VERY blind On the ‘legally blind’ spectrum, so accomplishing any of this is a feat in itself.

Photos:

main photo is a closeup of my hat — made out of craft foam, fabric, mini playing cards, resin-cast bullets. This also shows the wig a little, which I hope to spend more time on soon.

next photo is my choker! I resin cast the skull pendant and the vials are clear resin.

next two photos show silicone molds and resin casts of various details. My dad worked as a machinist in a bullet factory and I used bullets he made into keychains to make my mold!

The next photo is the inside of my corset— all of those channels have steel boning to hold up my chest and cinch my waist! I made the corset to be 4” smaller in the waistline but keep the hips the same to make me look as curved as possible.

the next photo is the stencil I Karen and how I painted the textile pattern onto the dress. This was especially challenging because I can’t see the color red and definitely can’t differentiate the different between the paint color and the fabric. So I was painting... blind. Lol.

I cant wait to finish and shoot this costume!! I love Moxxi so much and excited to have a comfy version of her — my old costume was VERY warm and hard to move in cuz the jacket was unrealistic And I put boning right into it to create the curve. This one I designed better to be more mobile and comfortable!
