"The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" Watch Along

Howdy! This movie should be called "The Score, the Direction and the Cinematography!" LOL bad joke!

Wow, this movie is a monster! I enjoyed it! I have been having fun on this journey into westerns - a genre I am in the dark about! But I feel like I am able to appreciate so much about it because of the amazing filmmaking! I am enjoying getting to know these iconic characters and gunfights! I think there are probably things I may have missed (but that's why I have you!) So many movies I have seen must have taken inspiration from so much an iconic film!! Especially the cinematography and the direction of the shots. I loved the extreme close-ups and the extreme wide shots! I loved how this movie explored the good and bad sides of humanity, and I thought it was a cool way to tell a story, with the themes and morality against the backdrop of the Civil War! (Time to learn more about that too).

I loved that Clint said "Yeah" a lot! He said that a ton in "Unforgiven". Is this his thing - or was that a callback to this movie's iconic character.

Please let me know your thoughts on this movie! Let me know your fave moments and what you love or dislike about it!!

This week has been so fun with some heavy hitting POLL winners!

Y'all are the best bunch! Love you all to infinity!

Oooo!!! Crazy! Thanks for this Andrew!

To add to a comment already made. This was an extended version with multiple scenes added decades later which had to be dubbed by Eli Wallace, Clint Eastwood and another person who had to mimic Lee Van Cleef's voice (he may have passed away by then) which is why for different scenes their voices sound different as they are "old man" voices.

Brandon! So happy to finally see this juggernaut of a movie! I need a rewatch and I need more spaghettis under my belt so I can’t wait!!!

Great reaction, Ames! Every frame of this film is pure eye candy for me. Glad you enjoyed it so much. The high-stepping horse Lee Van Cleef ("Angel Eyes") rode was a circus horse. Due to an injury, he needed one. Great observation. When Tuco is recruiting his three "friends," it's the same actor (Eli Wallach) speaking, but it was a deleted scene re-recorded and re-added 35+ years later (when he was in his eighties). Lee Van Cleef's added scenes had to be recorded by another actor.
