I’m so interested in DWW and the untouchables!! lol Karin is the cutest thing ever! She’s in one of my fave movies ever “Now and Then” which I almost blanked on in the reaction. LOL

It was fun watching this one again with you, Ames. I loved how supportive Annie and Karin Kinsella were of Ray. They embraced the magic. They could see the ball players from the first day. Karin was so adorable. "There's a man out there, on your lawn." Karin again at the end, "Daddy, we don't have to sell the farm....People will come...from all over. They'll just decide to take a vacation, see? And they'll come to Iowa City. They'll think it's really boring. So they'll drive up and want to pay us. Like buying a ticket....To watch the games. It'll be just like when they were little kids a long time ago, and they'll watch the game and remember what it was like....People will come." Out of the mouth of babes, indeed. Besides "Dances with Wolves", another Costner film worth seeing is "The Untouchables" (1987) with Sean Connery, directed by Brian De Palma.

I'm going to have to go with JFK. What a challenge that role had to be. So many monologues!

R.I.P. Ray Liotta. I agree w/RFK that the movie is over the top, and that is one reason I didn't get into the movie as much when released, but I now think the movie intentionally being over the top is an "effect" and a theme of the movie. Once I accepted that premise, I was able to enjoy the movie. Is a leap for me, but I now sometimes emphasize a desire for stuff like a good story or good ending over realism in my old age. I recommend Open Range and Dances with Wolves as the top two Costner movies (for me). Other Kevin Costner movies to consider. --No Way Out (1987) --McFarland, USA (2015) (inspirational sports drama) --A Perfect World (1993) ("Clint Eastwood's haunting, ambiguous crime drama is smart and gritty, and features a bravura performance from Kevin Costner.") --Bull Durham (1988) [RT=97%] (another baseball movie but this one with Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins).
