I remember this movie genuinely changing my life when I first saw it. I had never seen anything like it before. I didn't know you could make a movie and just have characters interact with one another, talk to one another the way I talked with my friends at the time. And it's always a blast watching someone else experience it for the first time. If you enjoyed this then I would highly recommend Everybody Wants Some, Linklater's unofficial sequel to this movie. It's not AS good, but still quite enjoyable and extracts that same nostalgia on a college campus set in the 80s. Good stuff, great reaction!

Linklater did do a good job capturing the 70's in that setting in Texas (and could be in other states or Canada, etc.) I was a high school freshman in Texas in 1977 (one year after the time in this movie). The awesome soundtrack is the music we listened to. In high school, I spent so much time in those places shooting pool, and playing foosball (no spinning) and pinball, and listening to music from the jukebox.
