She was the Mom everybody wished they had, beautiful, caring, etc., just like the Mom that Melinda Dillon played in "A Christmas Story." As a young Hollywood actress in WWII, she supported our troops in her free time, and even maintained a large "pen-pal" correspondence with appreciative servicemen, who were devoted to her. All Honor to Her. (Wouldn't it have been ironic if Jimmy Stewart had been a pen-pal?)
