As Ian commented above the info about Blithe is wrong, he lived for another 23 years and died in 1967, he stayed in the army and was serving in Germany when he died of a stomach ulcer. It sucks that he died at age 44 but he definitely had a better life than the show depicts. The mistake lies with Stephen Ambrose who wrote the band of brothers book. Everybody thought Blithe was dead because he didn't show up to the reunions, so that's what Ambrose put in his book. Also Blithe was from Philadelphia, but they gave him a southern US accent for some reason. Something not very noticeable in this episode is that Lieutenant Harry Welsh, (the guy who wants to ship his parachute to his wife, and did the brave grenade throw taking out a machine gun, and also took out the german tank with the bazooka guy) is drinking liquor from his canteen. When Blithe is reunited with Easy company Lieutenant Welsh is taking a sip and grimaces at the taste, that's not water he's drinking. Later in the episode he offers Blithe a drink from the canteen, Blithe drinks once and makes a surprised face and doesn't take another sip. It's subtle, but he's clearly drinking, it's not water. Lieutenant Welsh comments on Winter's injured leg saying "War is Hell." That's a famous quote from US civil war General Sherman. The tanks that saved Easy Company were Sherman tanks, named after general Sherman. Funny connection there. America names its tanks after famous generals or very heroic soldiers usually. Last thing, at the end of the episode Bill Guarnere notices a new replacement from Philadelphia. Bill points out he's from 17th street, the new guy Heffron says that he's from Front Street. Me, being from Philadelphia watched this and was like, "Those streets are a mile and a half away from each other." The show is kind of implying that they live in the same neighborhood but not really. They live in the same part of the city, but not necessarily close to each other as they are implying.
