The Dictionary of Useless Human Knowledge (2022) Episode 2 - Reaction

Question of the day: If you could choose between going to space or really deep in the ocean, which one would you choose?

Dailymotion: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Dropbox: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Password: “balzac”

Thank you for this suggestion familia! 💜

Get your thinking caps ready because we are learning a lot of human knowledge today. [we wouldn’t say useless because it can come in handy, maybe one day we can win BTS concert tickets from a trivia question we learned from this episode.]

We definitely learned a lot of new things this episode familia, as we are sure you will too. By the end, our IQ feels like it grew by 1%.

I’m so impressed by your articulation and eagerness to learn new knowledge. I feel smarter just watching your reaction. You guys should have Own talk show. 💜

I’m so glad you finally reacted to this. I have watched clips of this episode. Excited to rewatch with you💜 Watching this made me so smart (😂😂). Just learning about all the things they were talking about. It amazes me a group of smart people talking and letting there creative minds flow QOTD: I think space. I don’t know I just love space and also loved learning about things in space in high school. I just don’t think i could be in the ocean for long the ocean kind of scares me

Luv.OT13💎

Família, on your new video on YouTube you missed the end :(( it was "Step 6: Thank You for Watching!" So it was part of the video and after that there's Bloopers of Taehyung when he was MC of MTV Best Of Best, it's so funny!! I know it's already recorded and posted but if it's possible you can go back to it i would be happy!! It's one of my favorite parts of the video 😭😭 was so sad you missed it!!

Carol

Hi Familia! Not sure if this is still valid but hope you could react to the BTS World Series, you'll be able to see the members act for real (real acting). Each episode last for 15-20 minutes each and everything is worth it. Hope you'll notice this huhuhu. LINKS: youtube.com/watch?v=3JT3OayvrRg This message of mine might be too consistent I'm sorry but I really want you guys to react to this. Thank you! QOTD: deep in the jungle

yaaaay! finally an episode of DOUHK! i love this show and i've been waiting for this episode 💜 thank you familia! it's so nice to watch it with you both. cool fact, the famous volleyball player mentioned in this episode (kim yeon kyung) is adored by BTS members. remember when "in the soop" when the boys gathered up together to watch the olympics? they were watching japan vs. korea volleyball and our boys were cheering "yeon kyung nuna!!" hahahahaha namjoon was jumping and hiding behind jimin and suga was half lying down, half sitting because of the intensity of the volleyball match! japan has a strong, well-known volleyball team and especially they had a great home advantage during the 2020 Olympics but despite that, Korea won against them. she captained the team, setting several records at olympics, and I'm truly terrified of her. she has such a powerful and strong mindset. very healthy and self-aware mindset. I don't know anyone who can win over her mentally. she's truly korea's volleyball athlete that will come out once in a century haha another fun fact about this episode, but personal and life-changing to me! i was first exposed to the Hippocratic oath when i graduated undergrad. we had a huge graduation field filled with undergrads, graduates, medical students, and more. the school of medicine students sat right behind my department. when it was time to officiate their graduation, they all stood up behind me and started reciting the Hippocratic oath. i didn't pay much attention at first because I was just excited to celebrate my undergrad graduation with my family and friends later that night. but as they continued declaring their oath, i was so moved by their words and their promises to the world of medicine and to their future patients. the medical student standing behind me started crying mid-sentence, but her words were with dignity and confidence. these students sacrificed their youth and poured everything into 20+ years of studying medicine to truly just heal, cure, and treat the ill and underserved. i thought that graduation was going to be my last degree and thought I'd start working right away. but that oath really touched my soul. it's funny because i had no science background, so how could the Hippocratic oath make such a lasting and big impact on me? how the world works is weird, huh? here I am, years and years later, with a master's in public health, one step closer, to reading that oath one day of when i become a doctor. if you have time, I truly recommend reading a few texts from the Hippocratic oath for doctors. truly amazing.

And familia, i believe you will get a lot of requests to watch JK's live, in my own opinion i think it's a little long for a reaction, and also i feel like it's more of a live to just sit back, relax and enjoy a few hours with JK after missing him for so long, without having to focus on reacting and stuff!! But this is only my opinion, obviously that if you do want to react I'll be here to watch again with you, i just think it would be a lot more enjoyable and fun to watch on your own time!! Not everything has to be reacted!

Carol

I don't have much to say after watching it, because I just sat here for more than a hour and learned a lot, which is why I really like this show, i learn so many new stuff and there's Namjoon in it lol But really, i loved to hear their stories, specially the Balzac one, i really empathize i lot with his story and understood where he was coming from, i also agree with Dr. Sim about self-love and with Marisol too hehe, i believe that Self-love is the base to every love because if you don't love yourself how can you give love to others?? I totally stand by that!! Also, what she said it is extremely similar to what Joon said at the UN speech, i think the saying "great minds think alike" it's definitely true lol I really like to watch it with you familia, hope we continue 💜

Carol

Hey familia, the part 3 on Dailymotion the link is wrong, it goes to Vimeo and it's not this video either as the password doesn't work!!

Carol

Familia thank you so much for this update! I thoroughly enjoyed watching alongside with you. Who knew an episode discussing figures like Hippocrates, Socrates, Balzac, and Alain De Bottan, and wide ranging topics like the origin of medicine, ethics, the power of rhetoric, realism and the types of people we love could be so warm, funny and approachable and healing? I had no prior knowledge of any of the figures discussed today but honestly I feel like I’m fizzing with positive energy and just feel so enriched! My takeaway gems from this episode were, from the medical history portion: the car analogy used by the Forensic scientist… that if we fill a petrol car with diesel it wouldn’t work… same as our bodies are a car and our mind provides it with the fuel… if our mindset and the thoughts we fuel it with are the wrong type I.e negative then the results are obvious. When it came to the topic of Balzac… my takeaway was that each of us have those Balzac qualities within us… where greed, and the basic very real necessities in life force us to to have a sense of realism when making choices and decisions etc but that they are also a true part of the body of our character and that things we missed out in childhood or difficulties we faced (like Balzac with no parental love for example) could be a result of the things we crave now… then came the portion on Love, and how I feel the astrophysicist was trying to say that sometimes who we fall in love with or what we fall in love with etc is not a person or job etc but the feeling which arise in us as a result of the situations we experience together with that person or in that field of work (I.e the type of dates we go on, the way studying makes us feel) and that it all boils down to having self love and a sense of self worth. I feel the 3 parts were very much connected with the message of loving yourself. To love yourself you need your mind to fuel your body with the right thoughts and mindset, to do that you need to know yourself and even the parts that are not so pleasant and to embrace and acknowledge all those parts and what is lacking, but you also need to treasure yourself and with it comes knowing your own value and self-worth. If your own centre of gravity is internal and you, rather than an outside person/object than no external forces will be able to destabilise you. So it felt like a mind, body, soul type thing. For me it was so amazing how much all these at first grand seeming concepts seemed to all boil down to BTS and their message and what they have been conveying in their music all along. I also felt we gained so much more information and knowledge about Namjoon too, I felt so proud seeing him hold his own etc. Once again thanks for such a fruitful and enjoyable couple of hours. 💜 p.s just to clarify the Physicist starred in an Alcohol CF where he was famous for opening a cap with a bottle opener… so for many people that is the only part of his work they are familiar with hence the joke that many think he invented bottle openers.

Família, today is such a good day, we had Hobi photofolio, Yoongi posted more pictures of the mysterious photoshoot, JK did a long Live after so long (with a special participation of Bam and Taehyung, also Joon if you consider) and now a video from you, an amazing Wednesday!!!! And an amazing way to start the month, we still have Hobi birthday, his documentary on Disney+, Taehyung's cooking show and possibly a Jimin album!!!
